I can't rate this lovely place highly enough. From the welcome to the paying of the bill it's all just top of its game. My wife and I arrived without booking on Easter Friday on the off chance of a table and were welcomed in without any hesitation, we were surprised how big the place is and how busy it was. The whole place is spotlessly clean, even the loos! We had poppadoms with some incredibly fresh and tasty pickles while we looked through the extensive menu and loved the choices of traditional dishes. I ordered the Rajasthani Laal Maas and my wife had a Lamb Sashlik, along with a sag and aloo, garlic naan and the rice dishes. Our food arrived in good time and tasted absolutely amazing! This is without doubt one of the best meals we've ever had. The flavours were beyond anything we'd expected, so fresh and tasty. As always we over ordered and struggled to eat it all but we gave it a good go! When we'd had our fill our plates were cleared and we were given complimentary slices of oranges, it was very refreshing after the meal and we polished them off while looking through the dessert menu, wishing we had room to put one in our over full bellies! We were then treated to a complimentary shot of flaming sambuca for me and a very nice Tia Maria for my wife, the sambuca was extinguished with a magical finger click from the waiter but unfortunately I was driving so couldn't partake. When the bill arrived we were pleasantly surprised at how low it was considering the quality of the food and amazing service. Over all, a brilliant night out that I would recommend to anyone, not just a lovely meal but a...
Read moreIncredibly disappointing experience. I don't normally leave negative reviews, but I believe that when something goes wrong it's how a business reacts that is actually more important than the underlying error in itself.
My mum ordered a veggie biryani, but half-way through the meal she noticed small chunks of chicken in the food. Having been a committed vegetarian for 30 years she was noticeably shaken and upset by this discovery.
We politely explained the issue to the staff and they gave my mum honest and truthful verbal apology. I asked for the bill and invited them to do whatever they felt was appropriate to go some way to resolving our disappointment.
Unfortunately the final decision that could be approved was for the incorrect dish to be removed from the bill and a partial reduction on the price of the one drink my mum had with her meal.
Personally, I don't even consider removing the cost of an item which we didn't receive a discount in any way and therefore the real-world discount in this case was a measly £5.37.
Like I mentioned, I don't like giving negative reviews, but I fully explained my disappointment with the person who seemed the most senior at the restaurant and it was clear their...
Read moreRecommended to try this restaurant whilst on holiday in Torquay with a friend. First impressions were good, looked bright, modern and clean. Friendly female waitress. Food arrived..... well what a disappointment, both dishes were very bland, lacking flavour and chicken was so dry. We've eaten many Dopiaza and Bhuna dishes in our time and this was the worst, even the complimentary royal chicken we were given to try was bland. All dishes were so tomato based without any authentic spices. The manager on checking back offered another dish but by then we'd had enough so declined. Our waitress asked if we enjoyed the meal, we said no and asked if we could have a complimentary dessert, she checked with management and said she could offer one dessert @£4.25!! We both chose an I've cream, paying for one of them. More disappointment, the toffee ice cream sundae was tasteless, when in Devon, albeit an Indian restaurant, locally sourced ice cream would have been nice. All together a waste of an evening out whilst on holiday celebrating my 50th birthday. If a meal is genuinely poor you do expect some recompense, the manager was disinterested in keeping us, his clientele happy and for all of the above one...
