I’m only reviewing so no one else is fooled by the good reviews on here!
Pro’s - Waitress was pleasant. Cons - On first impression the place was tatty and grubby, I suppose you could get away with saying it’s rustic, but in our eyes it was dirty. The table we sat at was wobbly, but hey I’m used to that happening so we just went with it.
Toilets were gross, with damp loo roll.
So, onto the food! My wife and I both had a full English. When ordering they wouldn’t swap the fried tomatoes for mushrooms, I had to pay extra, (which is strange when the mushrooms they used are cheaper than tomatoes). At this point we should’ve just gone elsewhere. I asked for plain bacon as on the menu it said smoked, but they only had smoked, so had to settle. To their credit the food arrived quickly. However, The toast was granary, not wholemeal, which is what they offered. The fried eggs were very snotty. One of the breakfasts had potato fry/chunks, instead of hash browns, we asked both hash browns, so had to wait for them to be cooked. Being the typical Englishman I am, I didn’t ask for a refund as it makes me feel very uneasy. Looking back I should’ve just got my money back, and not looked back. But hey, we live and learn. All in all, not the...
Read moreAte here with friends during Covid and found they were just trying to cram as many people in as possible, well in excess of 30, they were squeezing people in back to back at tables, no spacing whatsoever. The table we had been seated at was fine until a large group of 12 turned up and the owner decided to cram them in around us, this made me very uncomfortable given the social distancing measures that are supposed to be in place. I raised my concerns with the management and was simply met with rude and aggressive attitudes from the waitress and owner. I have left an accurate review of our visit on trip advisor and have been met with lies, they commented back saying I was aggressive and made a member of staff cry, this is simply untrue. I’m not sure how you expect to keep customers with these attitudes and lies. Every response you give on tripadvisor is the same, defensive and aggressive, you should instead try communicating clearly and make apologies for shortfalls where necessary. I can assure that I won’t return to your establishment and I will ensure that others know that your management is poor and resorts to lies...
Read moreThe food was fine but why serve fairly decent food with cheap crappy sauces? This cheapens the whole experience. Also has to send back cold toast. Given another chance they then produced another slice of cold toast, but this one being the knobby end piece. 3rd time lucky. Staff were pleasant enough. Would rather go into a cafe thats focussed on food hygiene and people than pleasing those who insist on taking their bloody dogs everywhere with them. Thoroughly off putting stepping over dogs and having them beg around your feet. Seems to be the trend these days to be "dog friendly" but in my view its pathetic. I dont want to share a dining space with a horse, a cow, a pig or a dog. There's no difference. None...
