Having walked past the Pharmacy many times, I had a really pleasant opportunity to visit today. Walk in to an aged Pharmacy, carefully and thoughtfully decorated in time appropriate decor, shelves filled with vintage pharmaceutical paraphernalia, and other decorative tea shop items. The welcome from the lady server was really good, despite obviously having to recite the whole list of available cakes to every customer. And what a selection there was. From chocolate, through coffee, walnut, lemon, carrot, Victoria sandwich, something with coconut, courgette and something, rocky road and at least five I can't remember. Double shot of extra strong coffee, hot milk and a slab of frosted walnut cake and I had a wonderful 40 minutes. Dog friendly as a bonus. If you want an unusual venue, with great product and pleasant staff, pay this a visit. I doubt you'll be...

What a little gem this place is, saw the school fudge tart in the window and had to have a piece. Myself and my friend ordered soup and a cheese scone, it was bloody delicious, l had lentil and bacon, my friend had chunky veg and pesto which l tasted, again, delicious. The cheese scone was served warm...not microwaved!! That was spot on too. Now the school fudge tart....l'm still dreaming of it, it was PERFECT, thin base not too thick, and a perfect filling, with grated chocolate....it was soooo good. The shop, a listed building was beautiful, full of character. An olde worlde pharmacy. Really reasonably priced for fantastic, wholesome food and what lovely, lovely staff. Thank you so much, we were talking about you all on the train on our way back home to Barnstaple. The...

Just been in today. Wonderfull surrounding and promit service from waitress. Ordered bacon, brie and cranberry toastie . Requested bacon very well done, could they do that If not possible, then l would have the soup. Told yes it would be well done. Meal arrived, bacon was not cooked and had to be removed. I do not mind if they could not cook this way, but please do not promise a service and not provide it. Absolutely appalling behaviour and on complaining still did not apologise and charged for it. Lesson learnt at this cafe, do not trust if they tell you they will serve as per your request. Will not be visti ng again and my advise is...

A really lovely experience. We wandered in quite close to closing time (slightly over really) and were expecting to be sent away, but we were welcomed with open arms and looked after beautifully. A perfect cream tea (cream first of course) whilst we chatted and looked at the incredible decor. It's a fascinating mix of victorian furniture and more recent ornaments and nick knacks - there's always something to catch your eye. In summary, lovely people, lovely atmosphere, lovely scones and tea... just lovely.

We were visiting from Plymouth. I was looking in the window at all the lovely selection of cakes when Zoe who works there- (caught her name at the end) came over and flipped the sign to say closed. I must of looked disappointed as Zoe opened the door and said did you want some cake? Ended up buying a couple slices to take away. This was really thoughtful of her to take some time to serve us both even though they had just closed. Thank you very much and the cakes were amazing!
