The food I ate at this restaurant today is the worst plate of food I have ever eaten. Not worst meal in a restaurant, the worst meal fullstop. To think that "professional chefs" made this food is mind-blowing. Me and my wife visited with our family for lunch on her birthday so we're hoping for a nice meal, The wait staff were all friendly and no issues with service but the food, could barely be classified as food My wife has a starter of rubbery defrosted under a cold tap prawns with some ketchup and mayo on top and my chicken strips were a cheap breaded chicken schnitzel chopped into bits. the meatball calzone can only be described at a hate crime on food. The dough was burnt black and the chef had dumped a tin of chopped tomatoes on top to try and hide it, inside the "beef meatballs" were actually made of pork were chewy gristly and vile, and the "Ragu sauce" was literally a tin of chopped tomatoes. My wife's burger was the dryest thing I've ever seen still not sure they didn't just grill an old boot. I didn't eat it and let the staff know in a respectful friendly way that the standard was awful but the manager never came to see us to apologize. They took £6 off the final bill, but frankly it felt more of an insult. paying 46 pound for 2 drinks and some indeterminate microwaved matter is a joke would have at least taken the cost of the mains off the bill My wife has also had an upset stomach all night since which she suspects is due to the prawns. I would give it a miss if I were you The accompanying picture is what was left of my meal after I decided two bites in it was completely inedible

I had been here a few years back, and on a visit recently to Clacton, we decided to pop in for some dinner. The milkshakes swayed most of our decision! Upon entering, we were warmly greeted and shown a table, the service was excellent throughout. We ordered reasonably quickly, with the kids opting for children's meals. Milkshakes were very nice (my son really enjoyed the mint chocolate one), food was OK... kids meals particularly didn't taste as good (my sons burger was no where near as tasty as mine - he didn't like it, and I tried it and didn't seem to compare to the one I had? The other young un had pizza, she ate most of it, but said mine were better, lol!). Adult meals much better thankfully. The service was so good that we were convinced in to having a desert, and I went old school and got a banana split. It was wonderful! A good experience, and the service from the staff sold it in my opinion... I was impressed. The only other comment was that there was a big smell of cooking oil whilst we were there, you sort of got used to it whilst in there but not as nice when I could still smell it on my clothes when at home later! Will likely visit again, even if its just for some milkshakes and Banana splits!!

Love this place. I've been here a few times now - they have a very good selection of vegetarian options, the vegitana pizza was delicious. I attend with a non vegetarian, he gets the wings starter every time and his burger was impressive. The staff are very attentive and kind, and everything is served in a timely fashion. Their pina coladas are the best. Only criticism so far is that I had their nachos starter and the guacamole was like the old el paso squeeze bottle kind of guac which you wouldnt expect for a £7 plate of nachos. Not enough to deter me from buying the nachos again, but id prefer a good guacamole. The overall 'American diner' theme for the restaurant gives it a great vibe, and the art on the wall looks hand painted! very impressive.

I went for an afternoon lunch with my two sisters who came to visit me in Clacton. I have only lived here for 18 months and we are always looking for somewhere new to eat. Everything seemed good at first and our drinks order was taken and then atrrived quite soon after, and our order for two starters and three main meals was taken. However, sometime later the waitress approached our table holding my starter and main meal saying, ' It's totally my fault but I put the starters and mains through together, I hope that's ok?' and then proceeded to put them on the table in front of me. I looked at the generous portion of potato cheesy wedges and said 'Actually no its not OK, it's going to be cold by the time I have eaten this' so she took it away after asking my sister if it was OK for her, which she said it wasn't either. My ohther sister decided to have her main as she wasn't having a starter. When our main meals were served by a different waitress, my pasta was luke warm on the top and I had to dig deep into the middle to find anything hot. Needless to say I didn't eat much of it and my sister who had the bolignaise said 'It wasn't very nice it wasn't hot and as it was mainly sauce'. My other sister was treating us this time and when the bill came she looked at it and handed over £40.00. The waitress asked her if she needed any change and my sister didn't quite understand what she meant and said 'No'. We explained to her the waitress had taken her change as her tip! Needless to say we won't be...

My sister booked for her birthday as she had never been. We were a table of 13 an the table had been set with a happy birthday banner which was a nice touch. Took a while for us all to arrive however equally it took as long to have our drinks order taken. Cocktails although well priced they were lacking the taste of a nice cocktail. The server had spilt the table up into five different tables which meant the ordering cod be paid for individually which along with the banners is why I gave it a 3 star. The food however was lacking in care and attention. My surf and turf priced at 27.50 was a let down for the price. My very small prawns were undercooked when it arrived so sent both sets back to be rectified. My steak was cooked OK but the fat on the sirloin had not been rendered down, and along with the minimal amount of chips was very sad on such a large oval plate. The two very dismal looking deep fried button mushrooms were just greasy and the half grilled tomato was still hard and not cooked out, the instant pepper corn sauce was very over powerdery and was the last and only thing I could taste for many hours after. My partners chicken burger looked equally sad on portion size of chips etc. All in all for the price and the oddly lack laster atmosphere I would not return in a hurry. I do believe the breakfast is good, so I may review that in the distant future. The server was great but in general the speed of drinks dispensed...
