Had lunch here today celebrating the life and memory of my late father, Party of 4 adults 1 toddler, Table order was: cheese burger and chips X2 Mixed grill platter with chips Supreme chicken tikka masala/pilau rice/ Naan + poppadoms Childs menu 5 chicken nuggets and chips and peas A side of onion rings 7 J2o's
X2 warm chocolate brownie with ice cream Warm chocolate brownie Apple crumble
For me, I had the tikka masala So I can only review that dish and also the dessert,
I must start with for me... I was unimpressed with the portions, I am not a large person I am classed as slim/ athletic build and I feel the amount of tikka masala was indeed very small... I would generally at home have 4 times as much with many naans and plenty of poppadoms, So the portion was way off for me I would at least expect double what was served, The Naan was actually the size of a pitta bread and only 2 poppadoms
BUT...... But the masala was very very tasty, it really was nice tasted very authentic, I eat curry alot so I know what I'm talking about, The Naan pitta was nice despite the small size, wasn't over cooked or under done, just right for me, the poppadoms could have been better... Very greasy and slight patch here and there wasn't crisp but soft (because of the oil) The rice was smashingly good,
The warm chocolate brownie and ice cream was by far enjoyable, the brownie perfect temperature, chewy gooey, The ice cream in my opinion comes down to portion a single scoop... Hmmm 3 scoops would have been better, Chocolate sauce was plentiful, not too plentiful in a positive note,
Staff where polite and well dressed, smart and well mannered, I had a problem with the fact they didn't have a mobile card payment machine... Meaning the member of the party who paid who uses a walking aid had to walk back and fourth 2-3 times So in all I'd give the food 8/10 As I'm Are no problems were raised by any of the individuals, Although my son was unusually sick on the car journey home... That may have been temperature related though still... The service 9/10 because of the payment issue annnnd 10/10 for hygiene and covid-19 regulations...
Read moreMy visit here wasn't very enjoyable. Firstly, staff watched me struggle to open the door and try to manoeuvre my wheelchair in but didn't think to help. Luckily a customer saw me struggling and held the door open. The bar area didn't look very clean. I made my way to the dining area. All the tables were so close together, it felt like communal dining. Diners helped me to a table while staff just stood around watching. The table had gravy and drink spills on it so I used a wet wipe to clean it as the staff didn't see me waving for attention. My friend arrived in time to go to the bar to place the order otherwise I'd have had to battle the small spaces again. Friend was in rest room when the meal arrived. I asked the waiter for some cutlery and he pointed and said "it's over there on the table" and left. A diner from the next table along jumped up and said they'd get it for me. My steak was not medium but well done and my friend's dinner looked like it had been thrown on the plate. It was dry and had no taste. We decided against dessert due to the appalling service. On leaving, yet again, staff watched me struggle to leave and offered no help, whilst another customer got up to hold the door for us. I will not be returning here in a hurry as they are certainly not wheelchair friendly and the food wasn't worth the stress...
Read moreWhat lovely bar staff, just a shame about the manager. l ordered a medium rare steak but a burnt piece of meat turned up. l thought that maybe l ordered a well done steak by error so i ate it, what a mistake there was so much gristle on it that most of the steak was was inedible . l spotted the manager after l had finished my meal so l showed her the remnants on my plate her reaction surprised me "well you ate most of it " She then asked why l did not complain earlier l said there nobody about to complain to and she was the first person i had seen , her answer was why did l not take it to the bar???? She then offered us a free drink in a very off hand way l replied that i did not want a free drink but just to accept my complaint in a professional way. l informed her that l once owned a restaurant and would not have served up a steak like that , she replied " this is Wetherspoons not a restaurant" By now my wife and l had had enough of her rudeness and asked her to leave our table so we could finish our drinks. She seemed to enjoy having an argument and that was quite bad, we are both pensioners and really did not need her confrontational attitude .l honestly believe she thought l wanted money back or a free drink but that was not our...
