Been here a few times when in town on business, they show live football, more of that later. On this occassion I walked up to the, long, bar. The barman was serving a group of 6 men standing at the bar. I walked past them and stood at the bar. Nobody else was standing at the long empty bar. Tottenham were playing PSG in the super cup l. As Spurs nearly scored I was looking at a TV screen to my left. The barman and the,one and only, group of people at the bar were on my right. During the 30 seconds I was looking to my left at the TV screen a polite young man had walked up to the bar and was pointing out to the barman that I was next!!!! The barman had tried to serve him!! I was standing at the bar waiting,I was obviously waiting, was obviously next. The actual bar is at least 20 feet long, other than the group he was serving and, with an obvious gap,ME,it was empty. Devoid of life. I will point out that the polite young man was stood between myself and the group the barman was serving. This young barman has a stellar career ahead of himself at the local Weatherspoons. Where they excell at only serving people who are directly in front of them, regardless of normal rules of queuing at the bar. Serving standards in lots of British pubs have gone. No longer exist. Games gone. As an aside, this night there were loooots of Spurs fans in the bar. I watched a European game involving Spurs last year in this very bar. There were about 4 fans present that night!!!!! Also, the Spurs fans this night were very, very, very clappy. They clapped everything, everything. Is...
Read moreIt was good the doorman was decent and when some of the group pushed the boundaries a little he was incredibly professional and respectful, the drinks were taken from you at the table rather than at the bar and while there was a mix up with mine, it was resolved quickly and we were able to enjoy our time there. As in many places I do think the music was too loud for the environment. It was hard to hear the Front of House member who was taking our drinks which is why I think there was a mix up, it would have been nice to be able to see the list of drinks to know what to choose from as ther FoHm had to go back to the bar to check for me and also came back to ask about the BOGOF cocktail deal for another in our party. My suggestion would be a laminated drinks list on each table, it can be basic but give all the info on drinks and wiped down...
Read more24/7/19 My colleague/friend Elaine and myself called in after work yesterday. Elaine was keen to try as pub has had recent refurbishment...
Elaine had a dish which consisted of several starters. It was well presented (on a large plank of wood)!:-) I had a mini fish and chips which was a generous portion. We both enjoyed the food very much.
I had a pint of lime and soda; The cost? 4p - (recently charged £4 at a pub in Staffordshire)?!!
Staff were lovely and service very quick which is a must, especially as I was very hot and it was the end of a very hot and busy day!
The pub reminded me of Wetherspoons (but better).
What a gem and a marvellous find. Well done and thank you to the team - we'll be back for...
