Had to ask for a refund after trying to watch a film on screen 5.
When we bought the tickets the girl at the till apologised for the movie being on screen 5, we figured it was because we had to go back down stairs to get there. When the movie started we found out why she had said sorry, screen 5 sucks. I wasn't too bothered about the screen being so tiny, but the fact that the first 6 or so rows of seats are all on the same level and the bottom of the screen is below the tops of the seats meant we couldn't read the subtitles (which there were plenty of). We thought about changing seats but then we'd only of blocked the view for those behind us, so instead we went and got a refund which the friendly staff were very helpful with. There was nothing else we wanted to see so it was a complete waste of time and fuel going there.
We were also annoyed by the bright spotlight shining directly down upon us for the 15 minutes we tried to watch the movie. This also happened before when I was in one of the normal sized screens, I'm sure all the cinemas I've been in before turn off all the lights during the movie.
There was also a constant and distracting loud noise which sounded like the Aircon or extractor fan. This might not of been so bad during another film but the one we were trying to watch was quite suspenseful and had a lot long silent moments, and the noise ruined it completely.
I'd still use this cinema again as long as the movie's not in screen 5, although I might have to change seats if the damn...
Read moreBooked my ticket online and had nothing better to do than get it printed out and wait. The stairs there are an absolute joke so took a few mins to catch my breath, already being super tired from the day I just had. Then this “lovely” lady comes and essentially treats me as a homeless person. Asking me to “move on” as if I’ve got nowhere else to go.
She then proceeded to tell me there was a lovely BENCH I could sit on by the river and subsequently said the chantry “is nice and dry.”
I had no plans to stay and was in the middle of where to go next to wait, not my fault I don’t live in the area.
I assume this lady thought I didn’t actually have a ticket and was genuinely homeless but her demeanour was so condescending and somewhat unacceptable; even if she was speaking to an ACTUAL homeless person
These three stars represent the film and the one guy that had constant enthusiasm. God bless his soul
But all in all I’m low-key disgusted at how she spoke to me come to think of it and some staff need to be more considerate and less nose up, especially in these trying times.
And Of course I didn’t sit on the bloody bench I went and had some coffee whilst doing work on my 1300 quid laptop. Solidifying the fact I do indeed have money, indeed not homeless, and indeed not spending money on food...
Read moreBeen a few times and have sadly watched films in screen 5 which is situated at the bottom of the building, unlike all the others at the top.
I must say it's not a good experience at all... its very small room and the screen is pretty small too... a good home projector would beat it hands down, I would not recommend watching anything if it were on this screen.
I have also been in the other screens and was sad to see them being left in a filthy state and not being cleaned before each performance.
I know cleaning is hard to do and probably it's due to a lack of staff, but they could try at least, especially as you have to clean your seat of Popcorn before you sit down.
Another issue is the lack of working effective air con in the other screens, its get very hot even in the middle of wintertime and it makes watching a film very hard as you tend to fall asleep thus missing the film, then you leave feeling, in my case, rather unwell, I did complain, but it seems as though the staff are not interested.
All in all I would say I have been to other Odeon cinemas and this is about the worst so far.
Out of 10 I am sad to say it only gets a 3.
Shame really,...
