Food was very good, but let down by a few things on the night. Booked a table a few weeks beforehand - tried calling but no answer (Mid morning) so sent a text as advised on website. No answer / reply / confirmation for 3 days so tried calling again. Land-line was answered this time and table now booked for 4 people. Avvived on the nail at 19:00 and we had an event in the Abbey which started at 20:456 so plenty of time, it was busy inside which is a good sign and we were greeted by a young girl who asked if we had booked. Said yes but ww were pointed to a table with no reservation on and looked like the one put aside to walk-ins. Still, at least we were sat down. We waited patiently for menus / drinks orders - the usual, and after 20 minutes of sitting there with nothing infront of us, after asking on two seperate occasions for someone to take our drinks orders, they were taken and drinks arrived within a few minutes. Again, we were sat there and had to propmt to order food as we felt time was now marching on. The menu was appealing enough with each dish sounding tasty. I ordered a fillet steak, and like my meat blue - it's not often I order steaks in a restaurant as time has taught me that few know how to cook it properly. The starters arrived and were delicious, but after we had finished we were again left waiting - we even cleared the table and piled all the plates to one end stacked up ready for collection to try and give a hint, but it was only after intervention again that prompted the staff to take them away. Time was now no longer on our side, and as it was now 20:15 we resigned ourselves to the fact that pudding was now out of the window. The main course arrived at 20:30 and we bolted the food down. It was tasty enough, despite my steak being a medium rather than blue - when the waitress came and asked if everything was OK with the main course I deliberatly just took the fith ammendment on it, I didn't want to delay the meal any more as we were now out of time and to be fair, it was tasty - just not cooked to my liking so I continued to eat. When we were paying, I did point out that my stealk was overcooked for me and I was questioned why I didn't say anything - with hindsight perhaps I should have but said that we were out of time, I didn't want to make a fuss and I was perpared to eat it as it was a nice piece of meat. I wasn't after any recourse, just wanted to let them know. We haistily paid for the meal and ran to the Abbey (which we were late for and had to stand out the first session). I hope that it was just a blip on the night - the staff were very animated and no smiles / emotion / interaction was felt by our table. The food was tasty (scallop and black pudding starter was as good as I have had elsewhere), it was a pity about my steak being over cooked and if we had more time I would have pointed it out at the time (see photo of my blue steak). Will I return - I don't know, I just hope that others have a better service than we did on the night.

In the quaint town of Tewkesbury there lies a restaurant names the abbots table which was previously known as the aubergine. I went in to try a desert that I am fond of which is creme brulé. The small but luxury style restaurant has wonderful murals of the Tewkesbury abbey which is just down the road and bottles on the wall showcasing some of there wines on sale. When entering I will agree turning up at 9.15 for desert is not common but the waitress was quick in seating me and taking my order. I assume the chef asked her to check I didn't want s starter or a main as she came back to offer me s menu. The wait was not long to some extent. But sometimes the wait means your in for a treat. Now the creme brulé arrived and I'll be honest it looked a tad small, as you can see from the photos there was very little sugar on the top and a reasonable amount of the custard. This meant that sadly there was a slight tap but not as much as I was hoping for. Please bear in mind the cost was only £5.65 so it can be expected that it will not be out of this world. But the taste was pleasant yet not overwhelming. This is why I give it a 4 out of 5. The issue itself can be rectified by adding a little more sugar and and a bit more pud. I will say that from the prices of the restaurant. The price could easily quantify £6 to £7. I will have to come back to sample there starters and mains but I will be sure to bring a friend as the ambience in this place is lovely and perfect for an anniversary or birthday. EDIT. I completely forgot about the free cherry Kirsch and sweets as a thank you which I think is an amazing jesture especially at the end of a big meal. So points for that!

Hands down THE best roast!! We stumbled across The Abbot's Table after a walk around Tewkesbury Abbey. We noticed a board outside which mentioned about their Sunday Roast deals which seemed too good to miss. We very quickly booked a table for today (they only open 12-3pm on a Sunday) and oh my goodness we were absolutely blown away. We both went for the Lamb Roast and it came with so much on the plate. A generous amount of lamb with potatoes 3 ways - Boiled, Roasted AND Dauphinoise, Cauliflower cheese, carrots, broccoli, honey-roasted parsnips and a Yorkshire pudding all covered in a tasty gravy. The service was great both timely and friendly and the restaurant itself had a lot of charm and history. If we lived closer this would be our regular Sunday Roast :) - Don't miss out on this if you live in or visit Tewkesbury.

Visited Saturday 27/04/2024 around 6:30pm. The restaurant wasn’t too busy so we had a choice of tables. We were a group of 4 and this wasn’t our first visit, returning again after such great meals on previous visits. Tonight our group tried the special board rabbit dish (x2), chicken in mustard sauce, and belly pork. 3 of us had a glass of wine and 1 had a beer. As usual, greeted, seated and ordered promptly. Staff were lovely. Food arrived hot and tasted awesome as we expected after having visited before, consistently good food and service. Plates were cleared and we had cheesecake and lemon meringue pie for dessert. Once again, served promptly and the desserts were delicious too. The bill for 4 came to around £150 which we all agreed was well worth it for the standard of food and service and obviously we left a well deserved tip. This place is a little gem, not too extensive a menu but superb food and great service, worth the money in our opinion. We look forward to returning again soon. Do...
