The Carousel Tearooms LTD — Restaurant in Tewkesbury

The Carousel Tea Rooms are a delight. We spent a day in Tewkesbury on Wednesday and came across this unimposing place which may not stand out from the rows of other shops along side of it but once you are inside its a delight for the foot sore traveller. We where quickly allocated a table which was very clean as where the seats , the whole Tea Room was spotless. The coffee was very good, perhaps it may have been a bit stronger, but I like a strong coffee but that was the only slight niggle. Now the cinnamon whirls that we had were a thing of beauty, they are not over spiced with cinnamon they had just a hint and the pastry is full of flavour and texture, and they are about twice the size of any from a supermarket. Its a very friendly place and I suspect that most of the customers knew each other and the owner knew them, so not only is the food and coffee great but its has a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere . If you have the taste buds of an old grandma then you'll love it here. It seems this is what its aimed towards. Missing items from the menu , staff are rude / standoff-ish and they look like they dont want to be there giving a bad vibe from the start. Flies everywhere inside and the toilet is filthy with no hand towels or dryer working. The actual food is low quality, slapped together by people who dont know anything about food or how to cook. Everything tasted bland and just no love put into it. Very strange place. If the prices matched the quality you wouldnt mind. Such a shame. What an experience! Came up from Newport, came in to what looked like a lovely place. All we wanted was 2 coffee's. We sat and a young lady took our order after 5 minutes. We waited....and waited....and waited, the after 15 minutes another young lady came over to ask if anyone had taken our order. I replied yes....she then came back and asked what I ordered.....I told her 2 coffee's. After watching (painfully) at the 2 young ladies, dithering....we decided to leave.
