The Great Wall — Restaurant in Tewkesbury

Terrible customer service. We used to spend a lot of money here on takeaways, but last night was the last time. We ordered a delivery for 1930 for when my wife got home from work. Turned up at around 1730. When I questioned the driver, he just shrugged and handed me the food. Phoned the restaurant and was asked if this was ok, or did I want another sent out later. I opted for another sent out later. Thought this was the end of the matter. Instead, I receive a phone-call later asking for the food to be sent back??? Assuming the driver would drop the order off at 1930 and pick up the old 1 then??? Nope. The delivery driver turns up at 1830 and says “give me the food”. When questioned why he is back, and whats going on, again just shrugs. So I give him the food. And off he goes. At 1930 he turns up, with what I expect to be the exact same food I sent back, just reheated (contains prawns) as it all tasted soft and soggy including the nuts, which it doesn’t usually, and like I say, we used to order a lot. Really terrible way to treat a long standing customer who spends a lot of money...

Have used this restaurant before mainly for takeaway/home delivery and been quite happy with everything.

However a recent home delivery driver pulled up with music blaring that could be heard inside my home and no doubt my neighbours also.

A few weeks later we took the plunge and went for a meal as a family of four. When we arrived we were seated on a pokey little table and assumed that the two large tables available had been pre booked which we had not.

It then became apparent when another group of four arrived that these large tables were not reserved but the owner had taken it upon himself to judge we should not be offered either.

Will never return which is a pity but there are plenty of other options...

We tried the Great wall chinese in Tewkesbury thinking it would have been the same as years ago, WRONG. More like a cafe, grubby plastic doily table clothes with a radio playing in the background, not even chinese music. No atmosphere what so ever, very cold. Food was ok, nothing special. Now I wish we would have bought Nicer, bigger portions from the Lotus takeaway for around £50 and eating at home than it costing £100 at the Great wall with a colder ambience than my house. Maybe, we should have stuck to the Raj And had an Indian, even KFC had more atmosphere which is where we went to have an ice cream afterwards. VERY disappointing, still, you live and learn,...
