Wow! Where do I even begin? Our experience at Whittle Inn Brewers Fayre in Gloucester was truly elevated thanks to the exceptional service provided by Josh. As avid bikers who have explored every nook and cranny of the county, we've encountered countless pubs and servers, but none quite like Josh.

From the moment we walked in, Josh greeted us with a warmth and enthusiasm that immediately set the tone for the evening. His knowledge of cocktails was truly impressive, and he effortlessly crafted the most exquisite drinks we've ever had the pleasure of tasting. Each sip was a journey of flavors, expertly mixed and perfectly balanced.

But it wasn't just Josh's mixology skills that impressed us; it was his genuine passion for his craft and his unwavering dedication to ensuring we had the best possible experience. He took the time to chat with us, offering recommendations and sharing stories, making us feel like old friends rather than just customers.

Josh's attention to detail was impeccable, from the presentation of our drinks to the timing of each course. He anticipated our needs before we even knew we had them, ensuring that every aspect of our evening was nothing short of perfection.

In a county known for its pubs and hospitality, Josh truly stands out as a shining example of what exceptional service should be. His professionalism, friendliness, and talent behind the bar are unparalleled, and we can't wait to return to Whittle Inn Brewers Fayre for another round of cocktails served with a side of Josh's infectious energy and charm. Thank you, Josh, for making our evening one...

All you can eat breakfast. 👎 had a wonderful morning catching up with friends, decided to go to the whittle as we have usually had good food and service there. Although the food was the usual high quality the service was far below expectations. No explanation was given, but it transpired that you have to order everything from the table. We waited an extremely long time for our order to be taken followed by a much longer wait for the hot breakfast to arrive. Whilst waiting we eventually got the attention of the waiter to ask for more coffees and if we could possibly get some croissants while we waited. One coffee and two croissants were delivered for our table of six. When we next caught the attention of somebody we were told to wait. The waiting staff were closely bordering on unpleasant and certainly unhelpful, everything was obviously too much bother. Consequently I think it is fair to say the unlimited breakfast was in fact very limited and very much restricted to what the staff were prepared to do. Everybody in the party left feeling they had missed out on items they would have liked with the youngest of our party deeply disappointed. The final straw was being told the kitchen had closed 30 minutes before when we finally were able to get somebody's attention to order coffees and pancakes. Although I appreciate and welcome the restrictions required to be covid safe, I feel that the issues we encountered were all down to staffing, or lack of, and the overall...

All the kitchen staff need to be replaced. The food often turns up stone cold or burnt to a cinder. The peas are always a suspicious shade of green and have watery consistency to them. On a more positive note, I'm pleased that they've finally sorted out the lighting so that you can actually see the 'meal' that's been served.

26/3/19: Decided to risk eating here again and I'm not impressed. The table which I reserved was not prepared - there was no cutlery, napkins or condiments. When the 'waitor' eventually decided to bring the cutlery it was filthy. The menu was disgusting as it was covered in something sticky and the selection itself was rather lacking in variety. When the meals eventually arrived, I wasn't surprised by the fact that the food was cold and the peas were yellow. I wanted to complain but the waitor avoided our table because he most probably knew there'd be a problem with the swill he served up. I won't be eating here again unless the standard improves drastically.

31/5/19: The standard has improved a bit. Staff seemed to know what they were doing, the meal was warm and arrived quickly. The peas however... were disgusting - but then there's no...

Been here a few times but tonight i was very disappointed as the food was below average, ordered 3 x chicken topped with mac & cheese and bacon, garlic flat bread and tiger fries.. what I got was burnt chicken and a slice of white bread drizzled with garlic - DISGUSTING.. Also had to return my grandsons fish bites as they were burnt with dark chewy fish inside inedible for a 2 year old. After complaining about garlic bread on all 3 meals they were then replaced with 2 burnt garlic bread slices to share between 3 meals - JOKE... Will never eat here again!!! This place has rapidly gone down hill over last 8 months 🤢🤢🤢

The Whittle Inn has definitely seen better days and is long overdue a proper refurbishment. It feels like it hasn’t had any attention in at least 20 years. The air conditioning units are falling apart, the walls are smeared and marked, and the bar chairs are so worn down that there’s no cushioning left, which makes them really uncomfortable to sit on. It’s also common to find just one person serving behind the bar, which means long waits even when it’s not that busy. Overall the pub feels cold, tired and dated. It really needs some investment and a refit to make it more welcoming again.
