Fortnightly cafe review thanet: Today we tried the fishbone grill in birchington. Those who follow these reviews will know we always rate the same food every other week (bacon and egg sanwhich). On arrival it was good to see that this cafe had parking especially as its the first cafe you come across when entering thanet/birchington.when we entered, the cafes decor was fresh and inviting promoting the seaside town. The decor we give 5 out of 5. We sat down and a staff member invited us to sit down and brought the menu over to our table (though as mentioned we rate the same foods so it was going to be a B&E sandwhich). The cafe was not busy or overcrowded therefore we did not have to wait long for our food. The waitress was polite and friendly and for this we give the staff 5 out of 5. The sandwhich was well presented with thick bread. The bacon was nice and crispy, however the egg seemed like it had been cooking for the same length of time as the bacon and so was a little over cooked. For people who like there egg runny this is not ideal. We also found the sauce soaked through the bread. The sanwhich did taste good but not as good as a couple of the other cafes we have reviewed in thanet.. overall 4 out of 5 stars. Next up will be the minis bay bar and resteraunt in a fortnights time.

The first restaurant you'll come to as you enter Thanet from the North roads. This diner restaurant has its own car parking facilities which is very handy. Two entrances to the restaurant can be found at the front, enter to the left to dine in or to the right if you want takeaway service only We opted for the take out. Two small portions of chips, two small battered sausages and two savaloys. Total £15 exactly. Friendly staff, good quality food, served steaming hot. Prices ok.

**returned here today after a while. Still great - portions good although thought my veg 2 meal was a little expensive for what it was. They're very accommodating, especially with kids.** My dad loves to come here weekly! They always make him feel very welcome when he's on his own. I've ordered the omelette, all day breakfast and cod and chips - they've all been great, big portions and tasty food.

What a find !! My wife & I live in Blackpool & run a b&b there. There's a "papas" fish & chip shop in Blackpool which, until we ate at the fishbone grill, we thought was the best ever, We were down from Blackpool as my father had been taken into hospital & we were traveling between Whitstable & QEQM hospital in Margate when we happened to stop at the fishbone grill. I can honestly say we have found the new "best ever fish & chips" since eating here & we went back every day for the next week as we travelled back & forth to the hospital & everything we had to eat, not only fish & chips as they also have a full menu, was faultless. The staff were so friendly & the whole place is spotlessly clean - thanks fishbone grill !! We are back in Blackpool now but looking forward to our next visit down south so we can have haddock and...

Beautifully cooked fish and lovely crispy chips PLUS service with a smile.

If they maintain their good work and standards this will become a hugely successful local business!

UPDATE (2 yrs later - apologies! 🙄). They have (unsurprisingly) maintained their high standards and they are still our family 'must go to' for fish and chips. However, just to let you know that, they also have a HUGE range of food on their substantial menu, that caters for a lot of different/'difficult to please' tastes. PLUS (yes, I know this is a tad late in the season and is therefore currently pretty useless information, but...... ) they have a lovely outside seating area with beautiful and amazing, far reaching views over Minnis Bay and beyond. Something to remember for next...
