It's a fantastic venue. A good selection of well thought out golf holes amid an array of water features. What let it down was a lack of maintenance. On one particular hole the water wheel wasn't turning, which meant that one possible route to the hole could not be taken, and rather than being repaired, it had just been blocked off. This made an interesting hole with a water wheel into a rather mediocre, 'putt through a shed'. On hole 15 there was in impressive loop the loop, which upon closer inspection wasn't as impressive as I first thought (see photos). The wooden floor in the loop had totally rotted out in two places, rendering it useless, which turned it into a boring 'putt around the wooden obstacle' instead. Even simple, regular maintenance hadn't been carried out. On every hole the AstroTurf putting surfaces were strewn with twigs, leaves, and sycamore seeds making straight putts almost impossible. Half an hour in the morning with a leaf blower would have solved that problem, but obviously even that is too much like hard work for the owners. On the plus side, the staff manning the reception/ice cream parlour/cafe (which also could have done with a lick of paint) were both helpful and cheerful, and the generous portions of ice cream...
Read moreBeen here a few times, lovely course, staff and location. Only negative from recent visit was the crowding, given the current Covid-19 situation we find ourselves in i was unsure about visiting anyway, but it was my partner and I's anniversary and we didn't fancy spending it doing absolutely nothing, looking online I read everywhere that this course was currently online booking only, and 10 minute intervals between start times, figured this was a very acceptable precaution, however when we arrived people were paying at the till without prior booking and there was no time system so became very crowded at areas, I appreciate during peak summer times and weather youre going to be busy, but feel given the current pandemic we're in a little more care and caution with customer timings and such...
Read moreMy first visit to Quex, and I was impressed overall. Plenty of parking for the various things to do even on a Bank Holiday weekend. The adventure golf was great fun, good variety of a full 18 holes, very well laid out and unusually planted up in shrubbery style which not only is very pleasing to look at, but practical in terms of shade and wind protection. The course itself was a little tired looking but didn't detract from the great fun we had attempting the various watery obstacles. Even though it was very busy whilst we were there we didn't feel rushed or too crowded and were able to socially distance from other parties. There was hand sanitiser available at...
