We've been to the Powell on a few occasions this year, while we have been planning our wedding at Chapel House Estate. Every time we've been there we have felt so welcomed that it feels like we're locals, even though we live 100 miles away! We booked out all 6 rooms at the Powell for our wedding guests, who all could not speak highly enough of the comfort and service provided during their stay. One of our family members who is just over 6'7 even said the beds were big enough or him! Which was a joy and surprise for him! We've eaten at the Powell as well on a few occasions and the food is always exceptional! Byron, the owner and Head Chef never makes a bad choice when it comes to food! And we can't wait to visit one of his other pubs and restaurants in the future. We also decided that it would be the perfect venue for our rehearsal dinner the night before, and the team at the Powell couldn't have been more accommodating to us, allowing us to take up their restaurant space for the evening! 30 of our close family and friends all in one place, getting ready to celebrate our marriage together was just wonderful. My only downside to The Powell is that it is so far away!! We both wish that we could be true regulars to this fantastic place!!

I love this place! We came for dinner the last time in the back rooms. It was late and we didn't have reservations but luckily they were accommodate us. We sat inside in the extension and the food was delicious. We came back for lunch for a party of six on a Saturday. We sat outside. It was hot so we had to move the umbrella around a few times. They had set up a stage after we sat for live music. I can't recall the singers name but he was good and played a wide range of songs from various decades that even our teens were singing along. We ordered various appetizers (brie, bread etc.). For our mains we ordered linguini with seafood and a roast. For dessert we ordered pavlova, ice cream and gelato.

Myself and my husband have just returned from a two night stay. We were absolutely blown away, the room was SO clean, water, coffee, biscuits, crisps. We had a do not disturb sign on our door, when we opened the door there was a basket of fresh towels, flannels, coffee, tea ect for the following day which we wasn’t expecting. Having white company toiletries was a real treat! Beds so comfortable. Very quiet rooms. There’s also a little lounge area upstairs with a Tv and games ect. I honestly couldn’t fault one thing. The staff are so friendly and approachable, food and drink reasonably priced. We will definitely be returning. Thank you everyone, keep up the good work, The Powell is a real gem!

Not really sure how this place has high rating… First time in and we was left just stood there in the middle of entrance. One table full in the whole place and no staff. One staff sitting down on a laptop and said someone would be out. Waited 5 mins and still no one so we head to bar to get drink and no one there. Few mins later we was finally seated and served. By a nice lady. We ordered the shared for £55 and the presentation was lovely however the food was not great. The pigs in blankets were awful tasted like dirt/muddy taste I actually spat it out into a tissue. The ribs was microwaved with sauce on top and the chips were flavourless and not nice. Over all for £70 bill was very disappointed and both will not be returning. We was not asked if we wanted another drink or to look at the desert menu. Lucky we just...

I have to thoroughly commend the exceptionally young team (all are under 25) on a extremely well run bar/restaurant! The Manager is daughter of proprietors and boy did she know her stuff behave most professionally and impeccably polite! All the staff run the bar and restaurant smoothly and without fault. The food is absolutely amazing and worthy of any gastro pub highest rating. We were visiting Canterbury and stayed locally in Birchington-on-sea where we ate two nights on the trot in the pub and both times were brilliant. I am a trained chef and have high standards and wont just eat anywhere, I couldn't do any better if I tried, so can recommend this establishment most highly, is well worth a visit and will return to sample their Sunday roast which I have been told is not to be missed!! Well done to...
