Heartfelt Appreciation for Millie's Kindness and Community Spirit
I am a local resident at St Mildred's Bay and a regular at Millie's, a place that not only serves great food but also harbors a wonderful community spirit. Recently, my mother underwent surgery, and during this challenging time, Millie's went above and beyond to show their care and support in the most heartwarming way.
Elton, the manager, upon hearing about my mother's difficulty in eating post-operation, arranged for a special gesture that left us deeply touched. Daniel, a member of the Millie's team, came to our door with a thoughtful gift - two different types of homemade smooth soups, carefully prepared to ensure my mother could enjoy nutritious and easy-to-eat meals. His well wishes on behalf of the entire Millie's team were a beam of light during a tough period for us.
But the kindness didn't stop there. The following day, Max, the chef, and Lucy, a waitress, personally visited with a lovely flower plant. This gesture of bringing a bit of beauty and cheer into our home was incredibly thoughtful and much appreciated.
I cannot express enough gratitude to everyone at Millie's for their genuine concern, kindness, and community spirit. This experience has shown us that Millie's is more than just a place to eat; it's a pillar of support and compassion within our community. A huge thank you to Elton, Daniel, Max, Lucy, and the entire team at Millie's. Your actions have truly made a difference and exemplify the best of what a...
Read moreGreat food and fabulous location. Maybe the best chips I’ve ever had! Nice beer. I’d give this five stars but for one thing. Or, more to the point, one person. No idea who she is but I’m going to guess, by her age, she’s the manager. Ignorant, ill-mannered and inhospitable. We’d already dropped in at lunch time and spent £30 on food and drink and so on our walk home decided to stop for another drink and dinner. We found a really nice table by the window, moved our seats facing the sea and I went to get drinks. I tried to make conversation with the manager who gave one word replies - which was ok but I did wonder why someone with such a miserable attitude would work in the catering industry. When I headed back to my seat I found the manager telling my wife to move from the table we were sat at because it was reserved. That would have been okay had she been even remotely polite about it but she wasn’t. Just said ‘You’ll have to move, people are going to eat here.’ She didn’t know we planned to eat and in the end we didn’t bother. Serious attitude problem. Whoever owns Millie’s, my advice would be to send her on some kind of charm or management course. Doubt I’ll go back and doubt I’ll recommend. For the record, the young woman who served us on both visits was excellent. Perhaps the manager could shadow her for a week or two, see how the...
Read moreI took my children to Millie’s Margate around 8pm, as they really wanted ice cream and it was the only place open at the time. Unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing.
After ringing the buzzer, a lady came out to serve us. When we asked for cone ice creams, she immediately started handling the cones with her bare hands — no gloves, no tissue, and no hand washing. Even worse, she was using those same hands to touch the door, card machine, and who knows what else, and still proceeded to handle food without any regard for hygiene.
To top it off, the cones she served us were the last few sitting uncovered by the till. There’s no way of knowing how long they’d been left out, exposed to germs and dust. It was honestly shocking to see such carelessness in a food establishment.
Her dismissive attitude made it feel uncomfortable to raise my concerns in the moment — I didn’t want to create a scene in front of my children, but I left feeling uneasy and frustrated.
Very unprofessional and completely lacking in basic hygiene practices. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone,...
