My partner and I had the absolute pleasure of visiting The Hive for brunch on Tuesday morning. We sought it out, as it was so highly rated and I’m pleased to say that the high rating is entirely justified.
Slightly hidden away, off the beaten track, in George Street, The Hive is unassuming and quaint from the outside. Once inside, we were welcomed warmly and sat immediately. The interior is bright, clean and homely - we felt comfortable and relaxed.
The menu is written on a large board and there is a smaller specials board also visible. We had a tough time deciding what to have, everything sounded delicious, but we decided upon a ‘Healthy Bee’ (2 poached eggs, smoked salmon and avocado on granary toast) and a ‘Busy Bee’ (2 eggs, 2 sausage, 2 bacon, beans, mushrooms, hash browns and granary toast), a large cappuccino for me and a red berry smoothie for my OH.
Firstly, the smoothie was lovely, as was my coffee. The food was perfectly cooked, the eggs in particular were amazing (I’m funny with eggs and like a runny yolk, but no runny white - these were spot on). Perfect portion sizes left us full, but not uncomfortable.
I could not speak more highly of our host, I’m only sorry that I didn’t ask her name. She was wonderful and when she overheard me wish my OH a Happy Birthday, enquired about our plans and wished him a good day too.
Once we had finished and were ready to leave (completely at our own pace) my OH was treated to his choice of a piece of cake from their delectable looking selection of freshly baked treats (definitely check these out) as a birthday treat - we were completely overwhelmed by such a lovely gesture….and btw the brownie he chose was yummy!
This fantastic little cafe deserves the highest of praise for its delicious food, warm welcome and relaxed atmosphere, suitable for all, immaculately clean and priced competitively.
We’ll definitely come back when we’re in Ramsgate again - thank you for a...

Read moreThere are many good things I can say about this place. At the top of the list is the super-friendly host. She will make you feel welcome the moment you walk in. The interior itself is very cozy, with some space downstairs as well. I was here on a quiet day, but I can imagine this place buzzing with energy when full. As for the food, I had the best English breakfast I've had in the UK here. The ingredients were of good quality and cooked to perfection. It definitely filled me up. The cakes were great too; the Brazilian Carrot Cake is a must-try. I was told the menu will be expanded in due course, so I'm really looking forward to it. Will most certainly return when I'm next...
