Il Tricolore — Restaurant in Thanet

We always use La magnolia for Italian food but on this occasion decided to go to Il Tricolore because of what reviews and friends say. All I can say is that these people clearly don't have the same palette as my wife and I. The quality of the ingredients was not of good quality, and we all know that the quality of ingredients used is everything. The dish i had was of basic standard, it didn't give me the wow factor, and the colour of the tomato based sauce wasn't vibrant like what I am used to. My wife's dish was very dry and sour, like it had gone off. Oh and my wife had a green tea which you would think that nobody could get wrong, how wrong was i. The water used was stale, it certainly wasn't fresh. Anyway, we both didn't finish our meals because it didn't sit right in our stomach. For the rest of the day and evening we were both extremely bloated and my wife suffered with ibs running into the next day. Sorry...

Went for an evening meal. I have heard such great things about this restaurant but had never been. I had the tomato and cream soup for starter, I asked if it wasn’t possible for no cream and that was no problem. I then got confused with my order and ordered the wrong thing. What arrived was a creamy chicken dish (I was trying to avoid creamy dishes) I took the chicken off the plate and added it to my salad. The waiter said he felt terrible I was making a chicken salad but I assured him that it wasn’t his fault. I was getting flustered when ordering. The evening was great and the fab service made it even better. They took time to talk to us. Never rushed us. Had a laugh with us. I didn’t ask his name. But our waiter is an asset to the restaurant. We booked our table ahead of our weekend visit to Ramsgate and I'm so glad we did! It is a reservation only restaurant. The reviews this little place has are excellent and quite rightly so... This is no ordinary Italian restaurant, it's quite simply the best Italian restaurant I have ever been to. Clearly it's a very tightly run ship, and for good reason. Everything about Il Tricolore impresses. The excellent standard of service, attentive but not unduly. The atmosphere, with a true Italian flavour, relaxed and welcoming. Most of all the extensive Menu and the astonishingly authentic Italian food which was quite simply sublime. We just couldn't fault it and had to give it 10/10... Yes the overall standards are really that high. Do yourself a favour and visit Il Tricolore... Just remember to book in...
