A synth/music geek's dream. My brother and I are fond of the YouTube channel and planned a roadtrip from France to visit. More than worth it!!! We stayed there almost 3 hours. So much stuff in there, and you can fiddle with EVERYTHING. Complete freedom and not too much chaos (you ACTUALLY get the chance to jam on the synths, it's not just "pass by, press a button and laugh at that noise you just produced") . Making rhythms and noise, sitting and listening to what other people are doing, just enjoying the geeky vibes. What a place! The recently acquired church organ is really a gamechanger too! Not too many people when we went, I had a lot of time to properly try all these synths and the organ. Didn't feel like I had to rush at all. Sam and his team are a very welcoming crowd, when they saw how geeky and enthusiastic we were, they offered us stuff (electronics) that they didn't have any use for! For my musicky geeky brain, this is without any doubt THE BEST museum I've ever been in. Plus I guess it's in constant evolution, so I'll surely come back in a few years to see what these folks are up to! (I recommend checking the neighbour Micro Museum too, and Ramsgate is a pretty...
Read moreIf you like old things, weird things, and old weird things then this might just be heaven. It's the only place on the planet where you can see and get hands on with many amazing pieces of history, including (but not limited to); An old phone exchange Joan's organ The worlds largest drone synthesizer A very long game of Pong A reasonably sized collection of old computers (The Micro Computer Museum next door has even more if that's your thing!) Many different synthesisers and music instruments from the 20s to the modern day Some of the wacky, and sometimes genius, creations of Look Mum No Computer (Also Furbies)
The volunteers who run the show are incredibly passionate and helpful, and are always willing to explain and demonstrate the items in the collection. And you never know, you might even meet the man himself ;)
And the best bit is the collection is constantly changing, so the next time you go back there's even more stuff to discover!

Read moreThis museum is full of amazing old technology including some analog synthesisers, and a working Strowger telephone exchange. Add to that some really esoteric new stuff that has been repurposed by Sam from old tech, and new builds. For example, a church pipe organ and a vibraphone that can be played from a MIDI keyboard. An array of 1000 oscillators making up the megadrone, and the infamous furby organ. If you've ever watched the YouTube channels for this museum, or the Look Mum No Computer channel, you'll love seeing and hearing this stuff for real. And you get to play with most of the exhibits. If you've never watched those YouTube channels, seek them out and watch how the museum exhibits are put together.
The place is easy to find, and there's a small car park a couple of streets away. At only 6 quid entrance fee,...
