West Bay Cafe & Beach Bar — Restaurant in Thanet

First visit and frankly it was appalling.Tabkes were dirty and no attempt to clean them during a pandemic ( literally no tables cleaned the entire time we were there) Staff have no clue how to talk to people or even a modicum of basic service far too busy chatting! After 20 mins waiting we thought they had forgotten about us only to realise they had left our ice cream melting at the desk and our coffees getting cold- the reply? No apology just told “ we did shout out” Er no they didn’t we were sitting at the table nearest to the counter and they were all chatting instead of thinking about the fact we were the only table without food and drink. God help them if they were busy! What we ordered was not even correct - no marshmallows on the hot chocolate, ice cream in the smallest polystyrene cup you can imagine- and not what was ordered and luke warm drinks and service (without a smile.) Awful service, we arrived ti be told table service was available and to take a seat, 15 minutes later we were still waiting for someone to take our order. We eventually gave our order after calling over 2 Young girls ( who clearly had no idea of what they were doing). We ordered within 5 minutes another young lady came over asking for a payment, which we did, our drinks came straight away. Unfortunately our food took 45 minutes to arrive, we hadn't been warned of, we would have gone elsewhere if we had known as my friend is diabetic. The cutlery we were given was wrapped in soggy napkins which to be honest was unusable Overall the food was OK but the service was terrible. My first visit here was a couple of weeks ago, with my family We waited over an hour before we were eventually served. I asked the gentleman waiter on two occasions, to find out where our order was but he didn't come back to us...We were then helped out by a lady staff member, who apologise for the delay and when the food arrived, it was very nice... I stopped off there again today, on my dog walk ( Friday 7th May) Sat down and after a couple of minutes I tried to get a staff members attention, they seem to look straight through me but eventually one came over, she said that she would get me a table number and menu..... She never returned and I could see her taking orders from other people, who had just arrived...... So I left and will not be going back again.... I will also warn people of the bad...
