We experienced a well over a 90-minute wait for our food, and the manager's explanation was unsatisfactory and very unprofessional. A nearby table, which ordered 20 minutes after us, received their food significantly earlier. This unacceptable service, particularly the manager's lack of responsiveness, warrants a strongly negative recommendation. Such a poor role model in charge and to be told "that's how it is" and to walk of shrugging your shoulders was just rude. We experienced a 30-minute wait for the appetizer, followed by over a one-hour wait for the main course. Following a discussion with management about this unsatisfactory experience, we were falsely accused of swearing at the staff, leading to a request for a full refund by us. At no point could you explain this accusation nor show us the member of staff affected. This accusation was untrue, and the situation was deeply disappointing and embarrassing in front of other patrons. While I understand that restaurants can get busy, as paying customers, we expect a higher standard of service but furthermore honesty. I would not recommend this establishment. We received an apology regarding the swearing and "thought we might off". A more professional approach to dealing with situations like ours needs to be put in place. I would recommend you not to make false accusations again!!!!
We ordered two round of drinks on the app and was slow service but totally understood due to being farthers day.
We went across the road to the Indian "the masalla lounge" where we was looked after in a more professional manner and served within a quicker time frame. Very highly recommended. Maybe the management team could take an upskilling session or two from this local buisness on customer service.
Update to feedback.
How can a professional management team disregard client feedback? We maintain that our conduct was not inappropriate, and the reported one-hour wait for food, contrary to the initial thirty-minute estimate stated by yourselves, was a management oversight. Constructive criticism should be addressed and used for improvement. Your defensive response to feedback is very concerning. As the conversation was recorded, we are prepared to share it with your clientele to demonstrate our interaction and your acknowledgment of the unsatisfactory service, your words not mine.
Our communication, while professional, but directly addressed your failure to adequately manage the situation as explained that our frustration was due to your failings to deliver service within an acquired time frame. More concerning is the lack of integrity and demonstrably false information in your feedback. This is very unprofessional!!!
We urge senior management to review this matter and solicit more thorough feedback. Complete video evidence is available upon request both audio and visual which proves how unprofessional so called management was. More than happy to discuss this matter further with a more professional personal other than the temu management within the King's Ransom.
Very embarrassing how "clare paterson" review was. Slating a family over an establishment review site. Yet again shows unprofessional behaviour from the so-called management team. All customers dining close to us, all agreed and even appolagised that they had all been served before our group with two families stating we "wouldn't have that".
Sometimes as a business when you get it wrong, hold your hands up and say sorry. As you agreed on video it's unacceptable service, an unacceptable time frame and it's not on. Your words again not mine. More than happy to show "Clare" this footage as we had no one near to us while we discussed this matter with the management team.
Just read all the reviews, this management team can not take constructive feedback at all. The lies, the accusation of swearing and making up false details are unprofessional and not good for business. We have a full recording and will upload now to social media sites.
Avoid this...
Read moreOkay, so I've been promising this review for a while now, but it would be fair to say I've been really struggling to get in the "zone" lately. I don't know whether it's the inclement weather at this time of year (I know this is MCR, but come on!), COVID blues, or the copious amounts of Peroni I've been enjoying, but in support of the latter suggestion, I've decided to finish this piece off from inside the pub with an icy cold pint of Italy's finest export (…after pasta!). Why ruin the habit of a lifetime, hey?
The Kings Ransom graces the banks of the Bridgewater Canal at Sale Waterside. Ideally located for both the Metrolink and town centre, it's a jewel in the Greene King crown with a warm, homely interior, and fantastic outdoor (part-sheltered) beer garden. Parking is also available right outside (just make sure to Pay & Display...a refund is available with a QR code scan at the bar!)
With a generous assortment of ales and wines, you're sure to find something to your liking. Obviously the Peroni is a cracking pint (those who drink it know it’s a fickle beer that many places get wrong), and I can personally recommend the Marlboro Sauvignon Blanc for those looking for a decent white with their meat/fish dish.
Food is as you'd expect...wholesome and decent value pub grub. The portions are generous, and the menu varied. It's a comfortable step-up from what you'd get at Wetherspoons, but let's be honest, you don't come here for a Michelin experience, you just want something tasty to compliment your drink after a hard days graft, and with this in mind, the Kings Ransom never disappoints.
A big personal thanks to the manager, Tracey, who was really accommodating the other week when we asked to be booked in for an Xmas meal at short notice. The table was beautifully presented (thank you to the lovely lady who looked after us) and the food was great. We were really impressed and had a fantastic afternoon out. We will definitely be back next year (but promise, we'll give plenty of notice next-time!)
As for the staff, we are still relatively new "regulars", so don't know everybody's name yet, but everyone we've met so far has been absolutely great; the team here are a healthy mix of personalities, yet they have a great chemistry and really go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Absolutely love that they've retained table service here too....it does get abused as I hate queuing at the bar.
On a personal note, The Kings Ransom was the first pub I visited when I was considering moving to Sale in early-2013...being from outside the borough (Stalybridge), I really didn't know the area and I have a fond memory of perusing Rightmove for available properties, from the alcove at the top of the stairs as you walk in. Got lucky that day and found a 3-bed, just 5 minutes around the corner, where I still live to this day, so this pub does and always will have a special meaning to me.
Top pub, warm and cosy, lots of flat-screens and sports on show. Best beer garden in Sale, without question. Quality pub food and welcoming staff; The Kings Ransom is the kind of pub that every town needs and every local should frequent. It's suffered its fair share of drama over the years, but has come a long way in recent times and should be given a second chance by those of you who may have previously been put off.
Thanks Tracey & The Team and best wishes...
Read moreI recently had an unfortunate encounter at the Kings Ransom, where I experienced a series of incidents that left me deeply disappointed and frustrated. I feel compelled to share my experience to shed light on the discriminatory treatment I faced and to encourage better understanding and inclusivity within the establishment.
My first interaction occurred when a pub bouncer asked me to remove my hat. I explained to him that I rely on my hat to cope with sensory issues and find comfort. Regrettably, my request for accommodation was met with indifference. This lack of empathy or consideration for individual needs was disheartening, especially in a society that should strive to be more understanding and accommodating to diverse needs.
Shortly after, I had to step outside the pub to search for my lost credit card. Upon my return, I was denied re-entry due to wearing tracksuit bottoms. It became evident that this decision was selectively enforced, as my friend, who was also wearing tracksuit bottoms, had been allowed entry without any issue. This inconsistency raises questions about the establishment's fairness and unbiased treatment of its patrons.
Despite being denied entry, the pub staff allowed me to remain outside with a plastic cup for my drink. However, their justification for not letting me back in was baffling. They claimed it was for my own safety, despite no genuine safety concerns ever arising during the course of the evening. This reasoning felt like an arbitrary excuse to deny my presence in the pub, undermining my dignity and respect as a customer.
Furthermore, when my other friends attempted to enter the pub separately, they too were denied access, presumably due to their association with me. This guilt by association only compounds the discrimination I experienced and reinforces the unfair treatment that was directed towards me.
Throughout my time questioning the bouncers about their discriminatory actions, I was met with a dismissive attitude. Instead of providing a reasonable explanation or engaging in a constructive dialogue, they resorted to empty threats, mentioning the possibility of involving the hospital or the police. Such actions were unnecessary and only served to escalate the situation further.
It is important for establishments like the Kings Ransom to recognize their responsibility to treat all customers with fairness, respect, and dignity. Discrimination, in any form, should not be tolerated or condoned. Understanding and embracing diversity should be paramount in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone.
I hope that by sharing my experience, the Kings Ransom will reflect upon their actions and take proactive steps to rectify the issues at hand. Emphasizing inclusivity, training staff in sensitivity and empathy, and promoting awareness of diverse needs can go a long way in fostering a positive environment that values all its patrons equally.
Let us all strive for a society where everyone feels comfortable, respected, and accepted, regardless of their individual...
