This is the very first time I have ever experienced such disgraceful treatment after supporting Coffee House for so many years. I never imagined I would face open discrimination in a place I once considered my favorite coffee shop.
This afternoon, all I wanted was to enjoy a good cup of coffee on my holiday. Instead, I was greeted by a white male staff member with light blond hair and a beard who, from the moment he saw me, showed nothing but hostility in his eyes.
I tried to ignore it and placed my usual order, but throughout the brief interaction, his attitude was filled with visible displeasure.
When I received my coffee, I noticed it was missing cocoa powder. I politely asked, āHi mate, can I have some cocoa powder?ā He didnāt even bother to respond with a single word. With an annoyed expression, he simply threw the cocoa powder on top of my drink as if it were a burden.
I understand that anyone can have a bad day, but the most insulting part was watching this very same staff member serve local customers with a big smile and polite manners. At that moment, it became clear: I was treated rudely, dismissively, and unfairly simply because I am Asian.
This kind of discriminatory behavior is absolutely unacceptable, and it has completely destroyed my trust in this...
Read moreMy partner and myself visited the Sale shop at 14:50 last Sunday (18/10/2020). We chose 2 paninis and were planning to have drinks and cake (spending approximately £15). We were informed that they had stopped doing hot food and had turned the oven off, in fact, the oven had cooled enough for a member of staff to be cleaning it. When questioned that they were meant to be open another hour and 10 minutes till 16:00, we were informed that as it was busy with the makers market on, they stopped serving hot food earlier, despite the shop being barely a third full. I would have thought that you would want to maximise on it, and serve as much as possible. Instead, we went next door to Caffe Nero, and got what we wanted with no problem. If you want food, then go to Caffe Nero, the Coffee House obviously don't want...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat for escaping cold, drizzly wet weather. Typical coffee shop fare, served hot in bright and comfortable surroundings. The coffee was surprisingly and consistently good, and the marshmallow covered hot chocolatey drink well presented and far too tempting. The three female staff present during my visit were genuinely cheerful and uplifting for such a miserable day and to my honest surprise, despite bustling around with various chores took a great deal of care with several elderly customers. I think for that thoughtful demonstration alone I should return to the Coffee House and heartily recommend it to all. Ps (The shop was clean and tidy, well swept and with a sparkling Loo, quite a feet on a rainy day). Well done all round, I'll add you to my favourite...
