Two years ago this pub was failling, the beer was awful and the decor tired, if you visited on any day when there wasn't a Man United game on you could here a pin drop Luckily for the locals the Joseph Holt brewery took it on, no doubt keen to keep the football crowd happy. It's an interesting pub, big enough to swallow the football and cricket crowds on match days with open plan rooms, SKY TV and walls decorated equally to Manchester United history and Lancashire cricket. There's a nice sun trap on the front which looks on to the roundabout where you can park in the middle. Very good disabled access and plenty of seats.Some nice pub grub on offer too. Read moreI've been a customer at this pub for many years. It's always been a great pub, but last night's experience there was an awful one. The landlord needs to recruit bouncers more careful. My son and I came outside with our drinks and one of the bouncers demanded that we move away from the door. We did so but that didn't stop him from repeatedly telling us that we needed to "comply". He physically manhandled my son and I, even though my son hadn't said anything to him. All I'd said to him was that he needed to stop telling me to comply when I was being compliant. His attitude was appalling and he shouldn't be working...
Read moreParked nearby for the United game and was the first pub we came across so popped in. Was fairly busy with united fans out the front. Inside though it wasn't too bad 2 n half hours before kick off. Ordered some food which took a bit of time to come, maybe a little longer than half hour but was starting to fill up by this time. I had a steak and ale pie and it was absolutely banging, chips weren't the best but the pie was full of good chunks of steak. Nice inside the pub, served Guiness in plastic cups as I assume normal matchday practice, but just under 4 quid for a pint is a tad much. But will pop back for sure...
