Pub Review near Old Trafford, Manchester ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆
If you're visiting Old Trafford and looking for a classic British pub experience, this place hits the spot. Just a short walk from the stadium, The Bishop Blaize offers a solid mix of comfort food, good beer, and a lively football atmosphere — especially on match days.
🍕 Food The pizza was surprisingly good for a pub – generous toppings, crispy edges, and nicely balanced flavors. Perfect for sharing with a pint. The fish and chips were classic – golden, crunchy batter and thick-cut chips, served with tartar sauce. It’s not gourmet, but it’s exactly what you'd want from a traditional pub.
🍺 Drinks They’ve got a decent beer selection on tap – from lagers like Coors to darker options like Guinness or a local ale. Prices are reasonable, and they often have offers (like £1.99 cask ales). The pint glasses even have custom designs which add a fun local touch.
🎯 Atmosphere Inside, it's a football fan's haven – decked out with memorabilia, screens showing live sports, and a buzzing crowd when matches are on. Outside seating is a bonus on sunny days, and there’s even space to get some work done with a pint in hand.
👥 Service Staff were friendly and efficient even when it was busy. The menu is straightforward and easy to navigate, and you won’t be waiting long for your food or drinks.
💸 Value for Money You’re getting exactly what you pay for — big portions, solid drinks, and a front-row seat to local pub culture. Ideal before or after catching a match.
📍 Location Right on the route to Old Trafford, it’s a perfect pit stop. Expect crowds on game day, so arrive early if you...
Read moreSpent 3 weeks in Manchester working and staying at the Copthorn Hotel which is walking distance from The Bishop Blaize, so where else would I go for value food and drink. I have travelled the country working away from home and have always used Spoons whenever possible for my sustenance because of the value for money they offer and have never had a problem until visiting this establishment. First week I ordered the madras on the curry night and was asked if I wanted the option that included the mango chutney popadoms onion barji and nan bread which I opted for. When it came there was no mango chutney (which is still the case 3 weeks after) and the onion barji was totally cremated to the point it was inedible. I returned both mine and my colleagues asking the lady serving for replacements which we could eat and also enquired where the mango chutney was. The manager came over and said there was no chutney and informed us that the onion barjis were "coming out like that". He offered a 70p refund for the onion barji but nothing for the lack of mango chutney. When he returned with the 70p he slammed it on the table and walked of with no apology for the bad...
