I dream about the food at this little retro deli jewel. The vegetarian breakfast is THE BEST I’VE EVER HAD!!! With homemade corgette sausages, mouthwatering bubble and squeak. Halloumi, perfectly pan fried mushrooms, tomatoes, eggs, baked beans and Barbican baked bread. It’s soul food and special sustenance during the frosty months.
The soups are soupa tasty too. Always with a delicious vegetarian option. A special treat for me is the bean burger. Which I can guarantee will satisfy any grumbling tummy all day long. The portions are always dressed beautifully with exciting salads and sides.
The Phoenix Deli opens nice and early too. In fact... It’s one of the only eateries in the area that serves a homemade veggie breakfast so early on in the day. So they kindly cure hangovers there too!
Not only that, everyone who has served me there has been absolutely delightful to encounter. My family and I call it the gay cafè because it’s such a happy place to spend time. Everybody is so friendly and chatty and sweet.
The last time I went I sat and supped lush coffee whilst smoking outside (my order was cooked quicker than I expected). The chef braved the elements to tell me that breakfast was ready but they could keep it in the oven until I was ready if I liked. I thought this was above and beyond wonderful service. It felt more like home than a cafè.
I never write reviews but the staff and food at this place really deserve the praise. They are such lovely people. They cook up such scrummy yummies too and take mega pride in everything they do and make. Thanks for all the lovely meals made with love. I enjoy your little corner in Chorlton sooo...
Read moreOne of our favourite places in Chorlton to have a coffee, breakfast or both. Great service and great food. The only drawback was that once we were told that they wouldn't serve full english breakfast because they were so busy yesterday and didn't manage to prep enough ingredients for today, but when we ordered our melts, magically a few full english emerged from the kitchen. I suppose they were for locals which are dedicated customers, but still it didn't feel too nice.
Great locally sourced coffee and big choice of food. I would particularly recommend full vegetarian breakfast as it tops its meaty version!
I will be coming back and eventually will rate 5/5 when this one...
Read moreWent with my 4yr old daughter during the week as a treat for beinggiod at the docs. Couldn't pay by card so had to walk to bank machine. Ordered beforehand to save time, got back and still waited 10 mins for a sausage egg sandwich and a carrot cake. Was told price would be £6.20 but paid £7.50 instead as lady charged me for full price of carrot cake even though I asked for a slice off the normal slice for my daughter. Waited another 10 mins today. Food was ok,experience was a bit disheartening, due to knowing the potential of this little gem,I'll head back in a week or so and see how "new management" is getting along. Sad to see others wait 10mins max for a coffee whilst...
