Charlotte's in the Pantiles — Restaurant in Tunbridge Wells

If I could leave less than one star I would. Absolutely abysmal. Went for breakfast for a friend’s birthday…..ended up leaving nearer lunch time and some of us without even having eaten breakfast! We arrived and some of our party were already there. Waited in excess of 20 minutes to order our drinks. The drinks then took an age to arrive. Finally ordered our breakfast from a very small menu. I wasn’t too worried about a small menu as I thought this is probably done to simplify the process. Waited another 40 min at least for breakfast to arrive. All items arrived at different times and one meal was missing. My friend alerted my husband that there were mushrooms in the breakfast wrap that he was about to eat. There was no mention of mushrooms being in the wrap on the menu. He is allergic to mushrooms. The waiting staff had not asked anyone if they had any allergies which I have since been told is now a requirement. The wrap was sent back. My poached eggs on the eggs Benedict were not to my liking as the white was too runny. The flatbread was overcooked and like cardboard. It was impossible to cut. My husband returned my breakfast. Whist my husband was speaking to the ‘manager’ the chef began to argue with my husband and claimed that the eggs were perfectly cooked at a temperature of 63 degrees. The breakfast wraps also contained tomatoes, again not mentioned on the menu. A number of our party would not have ordered it, had they known this. Another of our party had avocado on a flat bread, which was also over cooked and tough. My friend’s original order eventually arrived with the remade wrap for my husband without mushrooms over 90 minutes after we arrived. We were given a complementary round of drinks (one of which was missing) and our breakfast was also complimentary which was for the best as my remade breakfast (eggs Benedict) never arrived and so I left feeling very hungry. Other customers who were also there for breakfast were left to wait a long time for their dishes. We had been recommended Charlotte’s and left very disappointed in the service, the food and the customer service. As a customer, we shouldn’t be made to feel and be told that we are in the wrong. My friends and I decided to celebrate a birthday at Charlotte's, and unfortunately, our experience was marred by the behavior of one staff member. From the moment we entered, we felt like an inconvenience

While ordering drinks from a welcoming young man, our positive impression soured when the same staff member presented the bill. Two drinks were missing, and upon pointing this out, there was no apology or acknowledgment of our honesty when the bill was reprinted. Additionally, when a friend offered feedback about her cocktail, the response was dismissive and bordering on rude.

During this exchange, the staff member rudely interrupted our conversation, engaging in a passive-aggressive display by waving and blowing kisses to other customers. The final blow came when we were abruptly instructed to pay the service charge and leave.

Seeking to address our concerns, we approached another staff member upon exiting to enquire about the name of the problematic employee. However, we were met with resistance, being told that they wouldn't provide any information, and were practically pushed out of the bar.

This unprofessional and disrespectful behaviour greatly impacted our experience at what could have been a hidden gem of a bar. Based on the google comments, we aren't the first party to endure such treatment. We hope management takes this feedback seriously to ensure that the service at Charlotte's reflects the potential that the establishment holds.

I went to this charlotte's in the Pantiles also with my mum and my dad and my lovely sister mollie And my dads mam and dad called Grandma Joan and Grandad Brian I liked your cup of tea you have at your cocktail bar It's the best cup of tea I have ever tried And it's my first time trying your cup of tea I do have cup of tea at home too You get 5 out of 5 I know I didn't have lunch But least I tried your cup of tea But don't worry you still get a 5 out of 5 Your food - 5 out of 5 Your service - 5 out of 5 Your atmosphere - 5 out of 5 I like your outside area it's spot on It's lovely being in the fresh air Even if the weather was a bit changeable today You for 100% sure you get great star ratings from me of course I wouldn't ever give bad reviews ever I like being kind to all people that I see at the places I go to I like being positive and I also like using positive words about the pubs or bar that I go to Your staff there are very kind and very lovely You treat us very nicely Your service is very good And your atmosphere outside is very good not too bad Hope you like my lovely kind postive first review I did for you You have a lovely read of it as soon as you're very busy There's no rush you can read...
