Hattons Royal Tunbridge Wells — Restaurant in Tunbridge Wells

Service awful and meal average. We ordered drinks after a 10 min wait for a server to take our order. Drinks took 30 mins to arrive and we only ordered a coke and a Latte. We then ordered food and had to ask the server where it was as 45 mins had passed - she was flustered looked at her IPad and eventually said I will check. Our food arrived in 1HR from ordering! We were not told there would be a long wait for food before we sat down - that would have been nice. The food was all over cooked like it had been under a lamp. My poached eggs were solid and my wifes portobello mushrooms were like leather. They took these away and we had a long wait to get new meals again.

The male staff member apologised but the young female seemed to be out of her depth with the situation. We never complained or raised our voices and still were charged full price without even an offer of a free drink or knocking something off the meal. Not a great...

I've had two private dining experiences with this chef and the quality of vegetarian food has been abysmal. I have never written a food review but felt compelled to warn other vegetarians. The most recent meal (supposedly fine dining) was a bowl of chopped overcooked veg with a stock cube broth and a few pieces of translucent watercress placed on top. Hattons in Royal Tunbridge Wells is a gem! The coffee is amazing, and I love that the cup is huge—perfect for savoring every sip. The brunch menu offers a great variety of options, so there's something for everyone. The atmosphere is charming, whether you sit inside or outside. I sat outside on a perfect sunny Sunday, and it was just idyllic.
