Taste Wells — Restaurant in Tunbridge Wells

If possible this would have got 0 stars!! After my sister and neices came to visit me we decided a trip to town and a feed was needed. My 11yr old niece is a very fussy eater and wanted a Subway so we brought her one and us adults decided Taste Wells menu look good for us. We found a table and whilst my niece sat there starting to tuck into her Subway we were queing to order our food. An old white haired member of staff very rudely and abrubtly started telling us that we must leave as we arent allowed to bring food in to eat from Subway. We explained that she is a fussy eater but that we were going to order for ourselves. The rude woman said no! you must leave i wont allow it!. We left knowing that they had now lost a sale and feeling quite angry at the attitude the rude staff member showed us. We can appreciate rules are rules which we wern't aware of and the staff member could've approached us and spoken to us in a more polite manner. She clearly has no skills in customer communication. I wish I didn’t even have to give 1 star. SHOCKING attitude from the owner… I ordered a toastie from the area with the ingredients as abruptly instructed to, first time going so how was I meant to know!? I asked if I could have Brie cheese instead of cheddar and I was told that’s fine. I asked for the price due to change of cheese and was given the price which was fine because I was on a tight budget. When I got to the counter the manager/owner said rang it into the till. It was £2 more than expected so I POLITELY a said I am so sorry but it’s more than I was told and I literally am unable to pay this amount. By this time she had taken my card off me!!!! It was not a contactless card thankfully I asked for it back, she said sorry they are almost finished making it.. after telling her that I’m sorry I can’t pay this amount. First time trying this place and won’t be returning, we ordered 2 teacakes and 1 Christmas gingerbread latte and a normal latte, nothing Christmassy about the gingerbread one as was meant to come with cream and didn’t. Tea cakes never turned up, asked where they were as was told they forgot and would do it now but we ran out of time, they didn’t seem to care they forgot tbh even tho there was 4 people working.

They all looked miserable and no communication between any of them and didn’t even get an apology when I was given my refund,

Don’t know why this place is even popular, I wouldn’t even waste your money here and better to go to fenwick cafe as there staff aren’t miserable

Only gave a 3 star for atmosphere because of the Xmas displays in the shopping centre.
