Went with my family for drinks and a bun and joined the queue to order at the counter.
The member of staff serving me asked what I would like. I started to order the cakes and was half-way through my order when I was rudely interrupted and asked what drinks I wanted with the cakes.
I explained I had more cakes to order. She wasn't interested and insisted that I order my drinks first.
When I started to reel my order off, instead of politely asking me to slow down, the staff member shouted "Woah, woah, woah!" at me.
If I had not been with my family, I would have walked out at this point.
There was one till to share between all the staff taking orders, which turned into a logistical nightmare, as each staff member was trying to deal with their own customer, ignoring the order of the queue.
When my order was totalled up, the server had left off a chocolate milkshake and added a chocolate mud cake to the order instead. As the order needed to be changed, the two customers behind then got to pay their bills ahead of me and the customer in front of me in the queue.
As a result, customers were having to push through the queue to get their hot drinks and make their way back out through the queue. The trays appeared to be oversized. Combined with having to push through the queue with their trays, I felt that this created a significant hazard for customers. Unless the Muffin Break franchise puts measures in place quickly, I can envisage a serious accident happening to customers before too long.
My flat white looked rather pale and I could hardly taste the coffee. The family all agreed that they'd had better muffins and tray bakes elsewhere. The only drink that was particularly nice was my daughter's milkshake.
Muffin Break need to a) train staff adequately with good customer service / listening skills b) undertake an immediate risk assessment to prevent accidents happening c) sort out the logistics with the till. payment is very haphazard and amateurish...
Read moreWakefield branch has hands down the rudest and most unwelcoming management of anywhere I've come across when it comes to food allergies intolerances. Avoid if you have allergies/intolerances as the management will interfere with staff actually trying to help.
I have some pretty unpleasant reactions to random foods, not all of the things I react to are on the standard allergens list so I have to ask about ingredients everywhere I go, I know this can be extra work for staff and yes it's super annoying for me too.
But on a quiet day I thought I'd pop in and see if I could eat anything. Girl behind he counter was very sweet and sympathetic, I explained the above to her and she went and found a book, but was struggling to find the particular muffin I was eyeing up, all was good up until this point. then someone who I assume was management (didn't have a uniform) appears, looms behind her and asks what the problem was in a grumpy tone, she explained she was trying to find the ingredients for the muffin to check for me, the without a word he reaches around her, slides the book she was checking away and gives her the standard allergens list, which we had already established wasn't helpful to me, mumbled "here" and wandered off. The entire time refusing to make eye contact or engage with me even though I was only about 4ft away. I left empty handed at this point and got a drink elsewhere as if I had risked it and eaten something I shouldn't I doubt he'd be the one volunteering to clean up the mess when I was...
Read moreBefore the Pandemic, we were regular customers of Muffin Break and yesterday, we felt it was safe to visit again if we sat outside. I went in to order and felt safe enough at the till. I ordered coffees, a toastie and a Panini for my husband. I was a little surprised how quickly the toastie and panini were ready but took them outside to our table. Unfortunately, when we ate them, they were really undercooked and quite frankly, cold inside. My toastie was also really dry. My main reason for writing this review though, was the apparent lack of cleaning/sanitising of the outside tables. Whilst we were there (about 45 minutes) no one came out to clean any of the tables, indeed a member of staff carried a tray out for a lady and put it on the table next to us after a family had left. Apart from the crumbs, which were clearly visible, I would've thought it needed sanitising. Surely, tables should be cleaned after EVERY customer, even in "normal" times. I have to say, the apparent lack of sanitising is a big concern for me and is the reason I...
