£100 A NIGHT HOTEL IN WAKEFIELD!😬York House Hotel #fyp #fypシ #foryoupage #kylevfood #hotelreview

The staff can't seem to do enough for you. Whilst checking in I was asked if I didn't mind TV not working as the aerial had been blown during previous nights storm I could be upgraded to a suite. The room is amazing. Warm, large, spotlessly clean, bathroom spotlessly clean too with huge power shower cubicle. Presentation is great when you walk in. All the usuals like tea, coffee, milk and sugar provided and cups and spoons clean too. Unbelievable price but above all so far I have spoken to three members of staff and all have been so pleasant and helpful. A great place to stay although I'm only here for the one night for business. Only a couple downsides are building looks and feels a little tired in the general areas and the restaurant is closed so no evening meals, breakfast or snacks available but there is a fantastic Italian restaurant just 2mins walk away called Prego in which I had the most amazing meal. A must visit too.

This hotel has what I would consider a more traditional look. Room was big enough & well turned out. I struggled with the size of the bathroom. I feel it would have benefited from a smaller sink to allow easier access to the toilet. Shower was amazing. Plenty of hot water at a good pressure. I would like to see clear instructions on wall in room as dial on shower wasn't clear & I did burn myself briefly. A couple of loose tiles on bathroom floor at door need fixing. Mattress was a little uncomfortable but I've slept on worse!! Staff were lovely. Sloane's restaurant is lovely too. Good breakfast. Very close to station & accessible to bars & restaurant's. I would definitely stay again.

We celebrated our fortieth birthday party yesterday at the hotel, in their upstairs function room. I was a little bit wary to begin with because I'd seen a few bad reviews on here but I asked the events manager (Layla) about this when we came to look round. She explained that someone else had been organising the events at the hotel previously, but the hotel and No Manches were taking over the events organisation and she would make sure we were pleased. ||She was absolutely right. From the planning and organisation to the party on the night, nothing was too much trouble for them. All dietary needs were catered for in an extremely thoughtful and caring way, which was particularly important because one of our guests has coeliac disease. The food on the night was lovely and there was loads of it. Guests commented on how nice the food was, which was great to hear. ||The room had been dressed beautifully when we arrived and they'd put chair covers and cloths on the tables like they would for a wedding. When we arrived and the table layout wasn't quite what we had expected, the staff were so helpful and made changes immediately with no fuss so that it was all sorted before the guests started arriving. ||Nothing was too much trouble and every member of staff was accommodating and friendly. One member of staff even helped us out to the car with our gifts and they were calling out "Happy birthday" to us as we were leaving. I would recommend York House Hotel for events, they...

The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly ||Good |Centrally located |On site free parking |Good strength WiFi |Comfortable large bed |Large easy to open window |Clean ||Bad|Hard pillows |Tiny bathroom|On 2 occasions only tepid water|No working hairdryer which they knew about but didn’t tell us about |Overhead shower inoperative |Tired, brown room requires modernisation |Tiny corridors |Poor communicators ||Ugly |Room directly over function room with no communication from management there was to be a function. From 7ish to 12midnight there were slamming doors, screaming children running up and down the stairs and corridors, inebriated patrons laughing, shouting, arguing and crying, outside the room. And don’t start me on the terrible, drunken, SO loud karaoke. This was too much. |I don’t take issue with the function itself. I do with the management and the booking process. As a last minute booking, I would like to have been advised that there was to be a function and that the room was immediately above this function. I could then have chosen to cancel my booking or ask for a different room where the impact of the function would have been reduced. As it was, the management said it was on the website that there were functions so basically it was not their issue. I feel it could have been handled very differently. I won’t stay here again. I suggest if you’re contemplating this venue, do ask about functions as I they will...
