Visited Amore in Aberdare for a solo evening meal and had a really enjoyable experience overall.
Starter: Bruschetta di Formaggio The dish arrived warm with perfectly crisp ciabatta, carrying a subtle sweetness that worked beautifully with the rich, earthy cheese blend. The cherry tomatoes added a nice touch of brightness. It was served with a mixed salad — I set aside the onion and green pepper, which felt a little out of place with the rest of the dish — but overall, it was a light and satisfying starter that set my palate up nicely. Paired with a glass of Verdicchio, the combination was well balanced and refreshing.
Main: Risotto Porcini The risotto was served piping hot and cooked well — creamy and al dente with a gently sweet, earthy flavour. I think there may have been a hint of balsamic, which gave it some lift. That said, I couldn’t detect any actual pieces of porcini mushrooms, which was a little disappointing given the name of the dish. I came in with high expectations after having a standout risotto elsewhere, so I was a bit wary, but in the end, it was enjoyable in its own right — simple, comforting, and well-prepared.
Dessert: Strawberry Cheesecake Unfortunately, the panna cotta wasn’t available (the kitchen let the staff know it hadn’t set properly), but the waitress let me know right away, which I appreciated. I swapped for the strawberry cheesecake, which was very sweet and indulgent — soft, creamy topping and a crumbly biscuit base. I’d already ordered a glass of Muscat, which was lovely on its own but combined with the cheesecake made the whole thing quite rich. One for those with a sweet tooth!
Overall: Service was friendly and attentive, and the food was presented with care. It was a well-paced meal with quality ingredients and a nice atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back to try more — hopefully the panna cotta will be...
Read moreAmore is an Italian restaurant built out from the old Black Lion on Victoria Square in Aberdare. As you go on you are greeted with tranquil music, a relaxing atmosphere coupled with a cozy fireplace and candles. We went on a Monday evening so the atmosphere was very peaceful and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. This is the second time I have been here since it’s opening, and I have to say everything was brilliant. The meals were out within minutes of ordering, there was good service all round and even better recommendations from the man who served us. I had the Cozze della Casa (mussels) which was served with a beautifully moreish tomato sauce. Then followed by the linguine al pistacchio which reminded me of a carbonara like dish. Then to finish I asked our server if they serve affogato which to my very pleasant surprise, they were able to deliver. Great to have such a fine example of an eatery that breathes life back into the once great town centre. Very indulgent. Highly...
Read moreFood tasted very nice. Could taste herbs, spices and flavours, NOT over taken by garlic. Cooked just right. Not a long wait considering multiple parties. All staff were nice and friendly in a genuine manner. Nobody had attitudes Right amount of customer engagement. Restaurant was full although did not appear over capacity, i.e. tables not crammed in to make money. And was not very loud, good acoustic considering full capacity. This provided a nice atmosphere, even if some of your party members experience anxiety. Bar table area consisted of couples tables which was a nice separation from main party tables, i.e. romantic and quiet for 1st dates or finally getting a night away from the kids! Clean location, including toilets. Light room but not too bright. Reasonable price consider current economic prices. Food, staff, atmosphere and cost - excellent. No complaints or small observations. An overall...
