We've been many times and there are many other Indian takeaways within a few minutes away from home but we choose Asha's which is about 7 miles away as it had good reviews and we had a few good meals both in the restaurant for birthdays and to collect as takeaway. However, the last few times we ordered, they haven't been great. Firstly, we ordered nearly £30 of takeaway food and the veg rice was so burnt, I couldn't eat it. I had to microwave rice I had in the cupboard and was disappointed. You could taste burnt pan and it should really have been thrown away and remade. It was too far to send back so we left it and gave them the benefit of the doubt and visited again as my partner had a £15 voucher from work he could use in any restaurant but could not exceed £15 so we asked for 2 separate bills as we needed more than £15 of food. As my partner was on the way home from working away and we have small children, I asked the food to be delivered and they explained there was a small charge of £1.50 due to the distance. Considering we were spending around £30 again I thought this a little unreasonable but didn't comment as it'd save me taking the kids out of the house and agreed to pay the charge. When the food was delivered, the driver asked for more than I had added up and as I'd got the correct change ready I had to mooch for change for the difference and again thought nothing of it and that I'd just added the total wrong. The driver left and I looked at the bills and noticed we'd been charged twice for delivery, one on each bill despite being the same order to the same address. Again, I just left it and did not complain and thought maybe this was the process. The final time we ordered a week ago for our anniversary as a takeaway to be collected as we couldn't bring the baby out too late. We let our 5 year old son stay up later to eat with us so I decided to take him with me to collect the order. We were told the food would be 30 mins but ended up waiting more than 50 mins, taking the time to 6.50pm so I was already worried my son would be kept up too late but let it slide as I understood it was Saturday and they did seem busy. Plus, as the food is usually so nice, I didn't mind waiting for a good meal. The order was brought out and I noticed there was only 1 naan box and we ordered 2 so checked with them. I was told the other naan was in the bag so thanked them and left. At home in the bag, one lid said 'korma' and one 'butter chicken' but we had ordered a madras and butter chicken. I opened the tray to find my partner had been given korma instead of madras. This would literally be the last thing my partner would order on an Indian menu as he eats spicy curries. He was gutted so I politely called them thinking they might have made a genuine mistake. I thought they might offer to deliver a madras instead. I explained that I had got my order home and had the wrong curry. I was immediately asked in a rude manner, 'what was wrong?' so I explained we ordered madras and had a korma. I was told I had to bring the korma to Rhyl to get a madras so I explained I had come about 7 miles and the rest of the food would be cold when I got back and that I had brought my son with me and it'd be late for him to eat so their reply was again I'd have to bring the curry back. I asked if they'd mind bringing a madras. I was told they couldn't afford to send a driver as they had people off and only 2 drivers and he was busy and had been on his own. I suggested just the curry be refunded to my card instead (trying to be reasonable as I work in a food outlet and understood) and was again told I had to bring the korma back to get a refund for the korma!? Repeating he was busy. No apology, no reasonable offer to rectify the problem. Good food when orders right, terrible customer service. So rude on the phone and I won't be going back again. Enough chances and my naan was plain when I got off the phone not garlic cheese that I'd asked for! £32 for a wrong order! Such a shame. Hope someone didn't get madras...
Read moreSimply not fit for purpose, I visited on the good reviews on here. This was a huge mistake as the restaurant was pretty empty on a Friday night. There was only one waiter working so I had to wait quite awhile before being seen, order being taken etc... As others have said this place seems to prioritise their takeaways over sitting guests. Once my food arrived it was truly time to be disappointed. It was awful, among one of the worst. No flavour, no love in making and just plain greasy. The rice was such a strange radioactive colour that I was hoping I would gain some super powers. Alas the only powers gained were indigestion and regret. The naan bread was very thick and mushy. The place is also very tired and in my view a little dirty. These guys are complete amateurs!
+++ REVIEW UPDATE +++
Since you want to make up a false narrative of what happened I am updating my review. Seriously most businesses just say sorry and say they’ll try better next time. You decide to make up stuff and attack me. You did not speak to me at all, you spent most of the time on your phone, presumably tending to your online orders. No I did not finish everything which you can clearly see in my pictures, I did finish most of my main meal since I was pretty hungry after a long day of fasting. And in terms of me being drunk and making a mess of the place, this is laughable since I do not drink and this was again another feeble attempt at building your false narrative with a stereotype of people from London. Your place was already not very clean, I had to clean your dirty cutlery on your dirty table cloth. I tidied all the plates after my ‘meal’ for you. And it was a Friday and not a Thursday as you can clearly see from my credit card statement showing Friday 10th May. Yes I’ll stick to McDonalds, they are infinitely better in every way to you. You are an insult to Indian cuisine and any other reasonable hardworking...
Read moreWe ordered set menu for 2. Nice poppadom and pickles, lovely chicken and lamb starter, awful main with Biryani and Balti almost identical 90% tomato puree with burnt rice and biscuit texture naan tasting like it was from a packet and overheated. Also note the service was like a comedy movie - same person answering the phone, taking table orders (while answering the phone), clearing tables, putting dishes away, regularly disappearing to go outside for delivery drivers or into the kitchen area (perhaps they were also doing the cooking - could explain why they were abrupt when we suggested to have a word with the chef about tomato soup curry). When we said it was the worst curry we have experienced, the response was that nobody else has ever complained - looking at feedback from previous customers, it looks like many have had the same complaint over tomato soup in place of curry! We have eaten at Asha's a number of times up to 2021 - we can no longer recommend the restaurant and will go elsewhere next time when in Rhyl for a curry. 4* for starter,...
