You get transported to Italy!!!
This restaurant is exactly what you would expect of an Italian eatery in Italy. The waiters are typically Italian - macho, dark and with a great Italian accents. The cooks don't speak any English and concoct mouth-watering pieces. We made a very specif order, as one of us has several intolerances and the waiter made sure we received exactly what we asked for. This did involve a couple of returns and re-runs, but ultimately we consumed precisely what we asked for. The potato pizza is a particular stand out - it is not a regular on most restaurant menus. The desserts were good too, but we were very disappointed that there was no Tiramisu. It turns out it is such a popular option it finishes off almost as soon as its made. The restaurant has a great ambience - you get people dinning and at the same time the delivery guy restocking the fridge. There are no toilets in the restaurant - if you are disabled, you are allowed to use the local pub's lavatory, if you can climb stairs - there are ladies/gents next door (up a flight of maybe 25+ stairs) that are shared with a printing studio located there. The prices were very reasonable and you feel well fed at the end of your meal. Ultimately, when you leave, all you want to do is to lift this place up and transport it to your local town/village, so you can enjoy this little piece of Italy more often than just when you...
Read moreI popped here for lunch on Thursday. I was in the mood for an authentic Italian meal and knew I wanted pasta.
On arrival they had one table left as I hadn’t booked which was by the door. It’s a bit of a mish mash of a seat there and kinda feels like it’s there to maximise the covers but either way I was by myself and had a seat. I saw numerous people turned away (politely) throughout my meal as they hadn’t booked. When I left the place was full both inside and out so I can only infer it has a good reputation locally.
I ordered the tagliatelle carbonara and a coke. Coke came quickly and the carbonara in about 15 minutes which indicates it was probably made from scratch.
The carbonara was decent. It was slightly heavy and I only just finished it but I did like the flavour. It had an abundance of pancetta. Normally places skimp on this as it’s the most expensive component but here there was tonnes. It was nice but in a weird way kinda threw me.
Venue is small and contained but the service manages to weave in and out. I was shown the specials which on another day sounded delicious.
It’s not cheap but it did feel like good value and liked the atmosphere.
I would go again. And again the...
Read moreIt is an institution in Cardiff for Italian food. You must go here if you want great Italian food. They are small and cozy but the food is so delicious. Everything we ate was spot on. We have been going here for so many years and it has never disappointed us. The food is fresh and tastes so good, it is always very generous with portions and the deserts are so amazing. We really enjoy our visits here and they give excellent service. The swordfish was tender and juicy, my chicken was juicy and the flavours were amazing. The pasta was so fresh and tasty. The starters the eggplant was very hot but the cheese and sauce was what you want. The Panna cotta was so smooth and rich, the berry sauce was sweet and flavorful. The tiramisu the cream was so fresh and rich I loved them both. If you found this helpful please press like. Thank you
Went back today and the food was very good. Just one annoying thing they gave us the bill for four people 102 pounds and than took it away and charged us more 111.20 I wasn't too impressed by this which was the only thing that...
