A Disappointing Experience (less > 1/5 stars) I rarely write such negative reviews, but my experience at Franco Manca Cardiff was thoroughly disappointing from start to finish. What should have been an enjoyable meal turned into a frustrating ordeal due to poor service and management. The staff appeared completely unprofessional and seemed to actively ignore customers. We waited an unreasonable amount of time before I had to go inside just to ask for a menu - something that should have been offered immediately upon seating. The inattentiveness continued throughout our visit, as we eventually had to chase down staff members to request our check. While the food itself was tasty when it finally arrived, the execution was severely lacking. Despite our order being ready in the kitchen, it sat there getting cold before being brought to our table. What could have been a pleasant dining experience was ruined by what appeared to be poor management and a disorganized staff who seemed overwhelmed or simply uncaring about customer service. The combination of unprofessional service, long waits, and cold food made this visit particularly frustrating. For a restaurant that prides itself on quality pizza, the operational failures completely undermined what might otherwise be decent food. I cannot recommend Franco Manca Cardiff, especially for families looking for a reliable dining experience. The poor management and lackluster staff make it impossible to enjoy what should be a simple meal out. This will definitely be my first and last visit to this location. Save yourself the frustration and choose somewhere else where customer service is actually valued.

I don't think I've encountered Sourdough Pizza before, but I'll certainly have some again. Franco Manca's is a relatively new eatery in the centre of Cardiff with lots of competitors in the area, but it is well worth trying, given the freshly cooked and flavoursome pizzas they provide. My husband and I eat here on a Thursday evening after work and really enjoyed the starters which were a Yorkshire lamb sausage, roasted potatoes cooked with onions. organic tomato and mozzarella for him and Mozzarella and Bresaola for me. Both were just what you want from a starter - flavoursome, but not so large as to spoil the main event, which is the sourdough pizza. For the Pizza course I opted for the special: the amazing fluffy sourdough base with organic tomato sauce, mozzarella and yellow tomatoes with ricotta and fresh basil - my palette was awash with the flavours of Italy. My husband had the Organic tomato, cured natural and Iberico chorizo and mozzarella pizza and like me found the base light and airy and the toppings a perfect match for it. There have been times when I've eaten pizza that I have felt full or even bloated afterwards - but not here, the lightness and freshness of the pizza made it a real delight to eat. My husband even had enough room for the Caramel pecan cheesecake, cut to order and extremely tasty. The staff were cheerful and ready to please, a great asset in any restaurant. This was our first visit to Franco Manca's but it won't be our last.

Very difficult to book a large table for a birthday over the phone. One of us went to the restaurant earlier in the day to drop off a balloon, birthday banners and purchase a bottle of Prosecco - we requested that these be ready on the table for when we arrived. This was not done and that was disappointing. £7.75 cocktail came in a very small water glass.. there were no wine glasses so wine was also served in very small water glasses.. Menu had some nice choice, particularly the specials board but the quality and taste were just ok-good, nothing special. Garlic dip and pesto dip were tasty. Salad was disappointing. We quietly asked for the candles to be put in the birthday take, lit and brought over. One server came over to tell us they couldn’t get the candles into the cake, in front of the birthday girl which unfortunately ruined the surprise. They then came back and told us they had got them in the cake but now couldn’t find a lighter, asked if any of our party had one, and when we didn’t they sent a server to another nearby restaurant to borrow one. Unfortunately, the lack of organisation, value for money, quality of taste etc. made it feel like the birthday celebration wasn’t as special. We requested not to pay the ‘optional service charge’ but did give a cash tip to a server who had tried their best for us.

Thought we would try Franco Manca Cardiff out as my son loves pizza. Arrived and the team thankfully were able to accommodate us arriving on spec. Menu looked great, specials looked inviting and we ordered. Aperitivos arrived and drinks, a good start. It went downhill from there. We waited and waited for our main course pizza, watched table after table being served who had ordered their food after ours, we attempted to get the attention of the restaurant staff but were ignored, the tables around us had spectacular service but our little corner ignored. We eventually managed to grab the attention of a lovely lady who managed to move our food on and explained that the manager hadn’t pulled our order through, this was after approx 45 minutes of waiting when other customers orders were taking 10 minutes. We ordered additional drinks and didn’t arrive, we asked for table water and didn’t arrive. I would say that the rest of the restaurant had great service and I am writing about our service which was very poor. The food arrived and because the delivery team saw the mix up clearly sped up the order, but then didn’t cook the pizzas long enough and were luke warm. But we had waited so long and were so hungry we could not do anything but eat them. The lovely lady arrived with the bill with optional service charge but changed for it anyway. I questioned this practice but actually had given up on the whole experience as it was nothing short of fawlty towers. On leaving the manager had the opportunity to apologise but just stared at us as though the whole experience was down to us rather than taking responsibility which is what management should do. Based upon our one and only experience I’m not sure we would visit again and certainly...
