CASA BIANCA. Sunday lunch was pre-booked for midday. Requested a table for 3 adults. First visit here. Unfortunately the 3rd diner was unable to make it. We opted to dine inside the restaurant, as it was hot outside. We were shown to a small table in a gloomy corner, with no overhead lighting, or natural light. There were no other diner's. As I have a diabetic eye condition, my vision is impaired, especially in the semi-gloom. So I politely asked the waitress, if we could sit nearer to the window, where there was more light. You still couldn't call it bright, but it was preferable to the first table offered. Well, the waitress was clearly put out for some reason ? Why, I couldn't say. To be honest, she wasn't exactly welcoming when we first arrived. So my request for an alternative table, obviously pee'd her off. Her face said it all. I'd say her attitude went from utter indifference to downright surly. She didn't raise a smile at all, and was exceptionally cold and distant. Zero personality. The ordered food arrived in good time, and it was very nice. Whilst finishing desert, I again, politely asked the same (and only) waitress, if I could have the WiFi code, as I couldn't get a signal. I was curtly told, in no uncertain terms, that the WiFi was not for customers. So to conclude, although the food was fine, not anything out of this world, for the prices they charge. It's definitely over-priced. A portion of "home baked bread" will set you back just under £9.00. Bread, really ? Admittedly, we were the only two diner's eating inside the restaurant, but there was no atmosphere at all, none from the environment, it was like a morgue, and definitely no atmosphere generated by the miserable, sour faced waitress !! To be honest, we only booked BC because our preferred Italian restaurant, just down the road, was closed for a holiday. We will never return to Casa Bianca in Abergavenny. And, just for information, NO, WE DID NOT LEAVE A TIP . . Although, I could definitely give the waitress a few. Starting with finding herself a new career, well away from the...
Read moreWe had a few days in Abergavenny and decided to eat at Casa Bianca. We ordered a risotto and seafood spaghetti. Both were absolutely lovely and the spaghetti was the best I've ever had and I duly complimented the chef. We had a very nice evening until the bill came and then we were very disappointed 😔 We had ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio which was £22.95 but when the bill came it was charged at £29.45, an extra £6.50!! When I queried it with the waiter he saw the manager who said it was a printing error and our menu was an old one. However, the two tables next to us both had the wine priced at the same as ours at £22.95. The waiter still expected us to pay for their 'printing error'. When I still said we were only paying the price on the menu he said the manager would come and see us. We waited for a while and the waiter eventually came back with a revised bill with the wine priced correctly as on the menu at £22.95. All of this was so unnecessary as this was clearly their mistake and they should have accepted their error and charged us correctly. Unfortunately it spoilt the evening as the food was excellent but the manager wouldn't even say say goodbye when we left 😒 Accordingly, we can only give 3 stars as although the food was 5 stars, unfortunately the service was only 1 star. Looking at the other reviews I'm sure this was a rare occurrence but the way they handled their own mistake was very poor. Casa bianca is is definitely worth a visit, just check the price of the wine...
Read moreThe venue is beautiful and makes impression from a door step. The design of the restaurant is at top in every detail but isn’t it just a cover of many neglects.
We went out for a birthday meal. We had a lovely service provided young waiter. However I cannot cover my disappointment with food. Starter which was sharing started of seafood was great and nothing to complain here. However my main course which was seabass ravioli was very dry. The fish was just putted inside with spices only. Sauce was nice although I think too complex for such simple dish. Then desert came - Tiramisu which was biggest disapointment. First of all it came as a cake…. Tiramisu is not a cake and I would be ok with that if was not the fact that Casa Bianca is Italian restaurant. The cream had no Mascarpone which is main ingridient of dessert (at least it did not feel it has one)! Others ordered cannoli which was good (but not crispy as it supposed to be). My boyfriends seabass with prawns and salad was dry as well. Also a lot of thing on the menu are „britisized” - most of meat meals sound more like pub menu.
After all dinner was a bit costy and I do not think it was worth that price. I think Casa Bianca relays on the opinion from the past and lost a bit of taste and...
