I am extremely disappointed with the service I recently received at Wetherspoons and feel compelled to share my experience to warn others. The level of service I encountered was shockingly poor, leaving me frustrated and disheartened.
Upon receiving our drinks, my party and I made a conscious effort to be polite and friendly towards the staff. However, one particular staff member demonstrated a complete disregard for basic manners and professionalism. Their rude behavior, evident through their tone and demeanor, made us feel unwelcome and undervalued as customers.
Adding to our disappointment, our order was completely wrong. When we approached the staff to address this issue, they showed a dismissive attitude towards our complaint. Rather than taking responsibility or showing any empathy, the staff member in question actually laughed at our concerns. This behavior was not only unprofessional but also deeply disrespectful.
To make matters worse, the manager on duty at the time proved to be utterly useless in resolving the situation. They failed to adequately address our complaint or offer any satisfactory resolution. This lack of action from the manager only served to amplify our frustration and disappointment with the overall service.
As someone who has been a patron of Wetherspoons for some time, I have come to expect a certain standard of service. Unfortunately, during this visit, that standard was not met. I believe it is vital for staff members to exhibit courtesy, attentiveness, and respect towards customers at all times. Furthermore, when issues arise, the management should promptly and appropriately address them.
I sincerely hope that Wetherspoons takes this review seriously and makes the necessary improvements to prevent other customers from experiencing such appalling service. It is important for any establishment to uphold its reputation by providing excellent customer service, and sadly, Wetherspoons fell far short of that mark...
Read moreDiscovered Wetherspoons for the first time 11 years ago when we first moved to Abergavenny. We liked The Coliseum and were regular visitors. Always good basic food at very reasonable prices, with clean and pleasant surroundings. The staff were great, courteous, friendly & helpful, also they always looked smart. When travelling we always head for the local " Spoons", knowing it will be fine. Recently we visited this branch for the first time since we left Abergavenny a couple of years ago. Oh Dear Wetherspoons!! How sad. The place looked mucky and tired. The "Manager" was abrupt. The staff were scruffy, totally disinterested and appeared untrained, except for one lad. He was trying very hard to serve everyone quickly & was pleasant enough. Having ordered our food we sat and waited - and waited. My husband asked a lady bringing the meals out whether something was wrong, she mumbled something, but never came back to us. He then asked the barman who told him our order should be next out. We sat & watched another 5 orders brought out. How hard is it to prepare ham, eggs and chips? Other people were at the bar complaining about the wait and some were asking for refunds. The Manager was conspicuous by her absence during all of this. Just as my husband went to the bar intending to ask for a refund our meals were plonked on the table. In spite of the fact that we had specifically asked for soft, runny even, fried eggs, they were rock hard. The meals looked totally unappetising. We were given a refund by the same young man, who was very apologetic and pleasant (the only member of staff who was) The explanation was that they were very short staffed!! I didn't use the toilet, too nervous about catching germs. Does no one from head office ever visit to check standards? We went to The Trading Post, where we were speedily and pleasantly served with...
Read moreMy husband and I went there for something to eat on the afternoon of Sunday 30th June, we wasnt sure to go there or not as the last time we went the cook had missed out a portion of meat and a sausage on my husbands mixed grill and when we told the waitress about it she went to see the cook and came back with the cook virtually accusing us of lying about it and said that it was impossible for anything to be missing, which was highly embarrassing as everyone around on other tables heard her saying this. Anyway we ordered our meal and nothing came for 45 minutes while people who had come in well after us were being served their meals , so we asked a waitress about it and she said oh most probably we took it to the wrong table and that she would look into it, so around 5-10 minutes later out food came and we couldn't get over it after all this waiting the gammon my husband had ordered ( which looked as if they had tried to hid it under something else ) was just about black, so he showed the waitress who had served us and she said well shall I take it back and obviously it had to be, so off she went again. Next thing I know I bit into my meal and it was at best tepid, but by then I'd had enough and begrudgingly ate it going slow hoping my husbands would be back in time so we could eat some of our meal together but unfortunately it didnt arrive till I had ate mine as by then it was another 10 - 15 minutes later. To say this place is getting worse is an understatement, so in future unfortunately it looks as if we will have to find somewhere else to eat/ drink. Also I have to add the ladies toilets are in dying need of...
