This is my local pub which, despite difficult financial times for everyone, my wife and I try to support when we can. I went in alone tonight and ordered a wing and rib starter, the classic beef burger and a pint. When I returned to my seat and checked the price in the menu it didn't tally with what I ordered, unless a pint of Guinness is suddenly £10. When the young man read my order back he had mistakenly put my starter through as the sharer portion, not the single. No problem, simple mistake. Yet when he asked the manager about a refund she said it was too late. Eventually she begrudgingly put it through and mumbled something about me changing my mind - I didn't change my mind! I was alone. Who would I share it with!? I'm sorry, you normally chat with us but your attitude was, at best, poor tonight. My food came out very quickly - less than 5 minutes. It all came out together. Starters and mains, which meant by the time I'd eaten my starter and had a 5 min rest inbetween courses my main was cold. However I wasn't going to complain as I didn't want the managers stinking attitude again! There was no cutlery in the pot on my table - what have the staff been doing all afternoon? There was only 2 customers in when I entered at about 1730. Then when I did get cutlery the napkin it was wrapped in was quite wet thus making it almost useless to wipe my fingers on. Sorry Cwrt, this was pretty poor tonight. The only reason I've given a 2nd star is due to the young man behind the bar being courteous and the young lady that brought my...
Read moreIt was very quiet considering it was a Sunday. So though service would be decent as every other restaurant in the area was completely booked out. This occasion was shocking. We ordered beef Sunday dinner. Beyond awful. It was seriously at best 3/10. Never expected great. But the cabbage was still pumped full of water, leaving the plate drowned with cabbage water, the yorkshires hadn’t risen, flat, whilst still being burnt on the outside whilst undercooked in the middle, the beef was terrible. Lacklustre. Could tell it wasn’t fresh and just brought in like that, and the gravy was flavourless l. Standard weak bisto. No love out in to it. We also had dessert. Both apple crumbles. One with custard. One with ice cream. Both came out with custard. Told the member of staff that we ordered ice cream for one, he shrugged his shoulders, not a word said and walked away. The one member of staff was useless, he was just a loud mouth pondering to the men watching the football around the bar. No service or customer service skills in him at all. The table was also very sticky upon arrival.
I think the standards need rebooting, because the sister pub across the road was rammed full, whilst this was empty, and it’s clear to see why.
I won’t be returning. For nearly £50, it was honestly one of worst Sunday di need I have...
Read moreTook my wheelchair bound mother for lunch. Not good access. Took 3 entrances to get her in. Mum struggled to get out of her wheelchair to a seat at a table to be told after the struggle we had to move due to a wake taking place in the area we were in. Went to order food.. OH wanted the mixed grill, asked the barmaid if there was anything else on the plate beside what was on the menu, she told me no except chips. Good i said as my husband is slightly autistic and can't have anything else on his plate other than what was listed. I also told her not a snotty egg. The mixed grill came out with mushrooms and tomatoes not expected so i sent it back also to change the egg as it looked inedible. The meal came back out toms and mushrooms taken off but with really hard yolked egg, the waiter said we had asked for a non runny egg which when i asked for non snotty didn't mean not runny. Third time the meal came out with onion rings not listed. Meal went back and asked for a refund. The barmaid then proceeded to tell my husband i hadn't asked for nothing on his plate that wasn't listed. All the while this was going on the manager was sat a couple tables away totally ignoring the situation. Not a...
