I rarely buy anything from here as I think they are hugely overpriced for the quality they put out. The kids like pasties though so if we happen to be passing a Greggs with them around lunchtime then that is generally the only reason we stop there. Otherwise I'll try to convince them to wait until we get somewhere else.
In fact, the youngest is now deciding that the amount of grease in the pasties and sausage rolls is giving him a bad tummy so we've now got an extra reason to keep walking.
If it wasn't for the staff 'usually' being polite then this would have received one star.
I think Greggs are going through a phase of trying to portray themselves as a place to buy good quality food simply by hiking their prices to match their competitors, but without actually providing better quality. I wonder how long this will last?
Also, there is no consistency. You have to check each roll to make sure you're not buying something that is missing key filling (I've bought a chicken and bacon roll only to find just one, tiny piece of bacon hidden in the middle - just one example) and you can get a mixture of hot and freezing cold bakes such as my last visit when the chicken were stone cold while the corned beef were still hot. Pricing seems hefty when there is no guarantee that you're going to get what you're expecting.
I know they do well for money now that they managed to get a lot of free advertising when they announced they would no longer be selling pasties, only for it to transpire that they would actually still be selling them but now they are called bakes, but I think it will only take a new competitor to come into the market to throw them off the rails.
A bit of a ramble I know, and this was meant to be solely about an experience on a particular day but my overall opinion of Greggs (an opinion created by them) contributes to my experience each time I buy...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām absolutely appalled by this greggs I came in about 4 ish yesterday for my daily coffee with my friend and I was about to approach the condiment stand it was absolutely appalling with all sugar and ice all over the stand and I was about to go to the other condiment stand and it had no sugar so I politely asked one of the staff which wears a skirt and has glasses if she could clean the condiment stand but she rudely said Iāll do it in a minute and carried on talking to a Iām assuming a customer with green hair and I timed how long it would take and it was about 10 minutes until she cleaned it and she also said go to the other stand but that had no sugar in it as I needed sugar because of my diabetes and I couldnāt put it on the stand as it was absolutely disgusting as Iāve mentioned and also the coffee machineās temperatures have gone down drastically my coffee was cold when I received it and my friends...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI used to buy a lot of Apple Danishs from both this Greggs and a second store further down Holton Road. I had a problem with them putting the danish into a paper bag and the icing would come off the danish and stick to the bag. I wrote a complaint to Greggs UK and they said that there are no rules about what packagaing is used but it is okay to ask for which packaging you prefer. If you want your cake or whatever in a box then ask for a box. I think this is probably because of Greggs attitude is that once they have your money, it isn't their problem. Having said that Greggs cakes and sandwiches are almost always nice. The staff are friendly enough ususally but can get stressed, especially when it is busy. I think the free-for-all layout of Greggs shops doesn't allowthe most efficient...
