Went for impromptu supper as driving past and on street parking available. Our waitress Paulina was very friendly and jolly. I loved the unusual Frangellico inclusion in my Espresso Martini. Our garlic prawn starters were superb, so tasty, no shells just tails to peel off, so not too fiddly. My husbands sea bass was as good as it gets, he was very happy. I was very disappointed W my gluten free carbonara, which was very sticky & no “spare” sauce at all. In their defence.. the non-GF pasta option was linguine, which would not have absorbed the sauce like my GF fusilli did. I thought this shouldn’t have been a surprise and I would have preferred this rectified W half the portion of fusilli GF pasta, or more sauce :) For dessert my husband had delicious home made Tiramasu. I had a shot of limoncello in a very attractive glass. Apart from my negatives about my GF pasta, all other food was so suberb and so authentically Italian. Loved the refreshingly different Italian wine list, we went for the Valpolicella Ripasso which we thought was fantastic. Decor is a bit tired, and the art on walls are an obscure choice of random pictures with no stylistic theme. The front door opens straight into the restaurant, shame there isn’t an internal buffering door, so quite a cold draught when the door opens on such a cold night. Despite these negatives of mine, We will def come back...
Read moreOutstanding!! Such a lovely restaurant! The food was just.... incredible! The Pasta was cooked to perfection. Partner had the Carbonara (which she absolutely loved) and I had the Swordfish and Aubergine, which was also fabulous. The waitress was very friendly and attentive, without being intrusive in any way. Checked that our meal was to our satisfaction, which it absolutely was. Now we get to the Desserts... I'm a BIG Cheesecake fan and it takes alot to impress me (Cheesecake wise) and I gotta say that I was definitely impressed! Mascapone and Wild Berry sauce, incredible!! My girlfriend is the same with Tiramisu, she was equally impressed with her dessert too (we of course tried each others lol). The restaurant itself is really nice, open and airy. Portion sizes for main courses and desserts were just right. We both cleared our plates with the Garlic Bread at the end and were perfectly stuffed, with just enough room left for dessert 😉 Great selection of Wines, nice selection of Beer, Cider and Liqueurs too. Prices for the food and the alcohol were also just right. This was a date night and our first time visiting the restaurant and it couldn't have been more enjoyable. We will definitely be visiting again soon. Highly...
Read moreHigh hopes for a traditional italian restaurant, walked out having consumed reasonably priced slop.
The menu is deceptive in its simplicity. Ciabatta starter was soggy, topped with locally sourced Tesco ingredients. They didn't even bother to use balsamic glaze, just straight up vinegar. The carbonara main was attrocious, considering it listed all authentic ingredients. No egg yolk, just pale wattered down cream and a sprinkle of black pepper on top with what seemed to be shreads of kebab meat from the take away around the corner. A chef from Roma would go balistic at the sheer thought.
Me and my partner did not order dessert.
The tap water was suprisingly good and the pasta was cooked aldente, altho I suspect that could be by pure accident due to the perceeved incompetance of the chefs.
Furthermore I noticed they ommited pizza from the menu, but i suspect that was because it would have been too obvious that they bought it from Tesco.
Avoid if you...
