This was hands down one of the worst fish and chip experiences I’ve ever had — and I’m still annoyed they charged £9 for it. Let’s start with the chips: straight-up frozen, and soulless. Hard in the middle, no crisp, no seasoning, no effort. I could’ve made the same thing at home for £2 with a supermarket bag and a bit of shame. Then the fish… or should I say, the batter tomb. A rock-hard shell that crunched like a stale biscuit, with barely any fish inside. Dry, flavourless, and clearly over-fried — like it had been cooked earlier and left to suffer under a heat lamp. For a fish and chip shop on the pier, you’d expect fresh, flaky fish and hot, golden chips. Instead, I got freezer scraps pretending to be seaside tradition. Absolute daylight robbery with a sea view.

🤬We saw the sign for fish n chips and it looked lovely, what we had was basic identical packet fish the worst meal we have ever eaten by far,it was dry inside and overcooked and burnt at 8.90 it was absolute rubbish ...we of course will never ever return to the Pier Cafe. Please avoid this place if you want good food there are so many nice restaurants around the area we can hand on heart give one star and that's only for the seats outside!!! ...it totally spoiled our day out,but by leaving this honest review, we hope that it will not spoil yours. 🤬

Absolutely delicious ice-cream 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The charming seaside atmosphere of Penarth perfectly complemented the creamy and wide range of flavorful ice cream. Pier cafe's attention to quality was evident in the rich taste of the ice cream. The best ice cream, I have tried in Cardiff.

Food was good but a little overpriced. I asked for a baguette which is higher priced than a sandwich but got a sandwich. I requested a part refund due to it being the wrong requested item. They said that they needed to refund and re-do the whole order. So that was done. I had a small refund receipt but have now discarded of it. Didn’t realise I haven’t got refunded and was charged twice slightly different prices due to the baguette/sandwich. I have no way to contact them online or phone from what I can see. Would love my refund as I’ve basically paid over £30 for 2 sandwich meals :( hopefully this can be resolved if able to contact but I’m a little sceptical to eat there...

Rude staff, came in for a breakfast. Have been a number of times before and had great service. This time though an incredibly rude member of staff greeted me and lied to me claiming that food is only served after 11am saying "it says so on the menu you should read it" the menu stated breakfast is served UNTIL 11:30 nothing about when it starts. In fact I have been served multiple times here between 9-10 in the past. I do not appreciate being lied to as a customer just because the staff member was unwilling to serve food. If they don't want to cook say so don't lie and claim the customer hasn't read non-existant rules. Won't ever be...
