Best takeaway in Bangor without a doubt. Tried some of the others on Holyhead road, you can probably guess which, and they're not bad, but not great. Ty Pizza however, absolutely blows the lot out the water.
Chips & cheese - chips were crispy yet soft, fries style, plenty of flavour and a good colour, the cheese was a mix of standard Cheddar and orange cheese, which I'm assuming is Red Leicester, tasted brilliant, the combination of the two is a nice touch. I would've preferred if the cheese had melted more, the chips could've been a little hotter to help with this, but that's nit picking really.
Cheesy Garlic bread - actually the first thing I opened, and knew it was going to be special as soon as I saw it, thick, golden brown crust, crispy brown top to the cheese with green garnish. Presentation was exceptional and it tasted just as such. Strong garlic flavour without being overpowering, cheese was soft and stringy, but as I say, with a crisp top for brilliant texture.
Chicken nuggets - not your five different 'standard' shapes like you see at McDonalds, they're more like chicken balls. Pieces of proper chicken breast, soft and juicy, covered in a brown, almost orange, batter, a lot nicer than the typical yellow you'll often get. Succulent and flavoursome.
Portions - absolutely massive, a large chips & cheese is actually in the large, long polystyrene containers rather than the one-up size from the square ones.
Price - Comes in a little more expensive than others on Holyhead Road, however we're talking 50p on most items, and the quality behind it makes it far better value for money than the others.
It's nice to see a takeaway take real pride and care with their offerings, I hope it stays this way. Will definitely be coming back to try a Pizza. Absolutely top drawer, don't bother going...
Read moreThe finest pizza on the planet. Seriously!
As an old Bangor uni student, this was the only place to go. Returning 12 years later and the pizza is just as incredible
The deep pan pizzas are simply delicious. Seriously chunky but not overloaded with grease or nasty cheese, instead the dough is soft and the crusts crisp without being burn .
The toppings are plentiful without being too unmanageable. Chopped and diced well, allowing for good spread onto the pizza.
Lastly the cheese is sprinkled over the top, so it bakes down onto the sauce and toppings below, encasing them in a soft shell of incredible goodness.
After 12 years, I did wonder if my memory has simply created this image of the worlds best pizza. But now, after travelling the world twice and returning to Pizza House on a work visit. I know that the true is simple.
Pizza House pizzas are the best in the world... fact.
I only hope I don't have to wait 12yrs to have another one.
Additionally I didn't have any fries or sides, so cannot comment. But frankly, if your going to judge Pizza House on it's chips.... I think you've...
Read moreI'll start off with a massive positive, my wife loves your pizza's. Anytime we consider ordering takeaway she always wants to get it from you guys. You're generous with your toppings and the base is delicious. Additionally the turnaround time and the delivery drivers are great, honestly better than anything else I've experienced in Bangor.
From my perspective on the pizza front it's a little more hit and miss (hence dropping one star). I'm not a huge fan of a massive amount of cheese, so I requested thin base, less cheese, more sauce and well done. Still for me it is too much cheese and with this most recent experience I had to put it back in the oven as the base was still doughy. I think that was just the sheer volume of toppings that caused that though.
Now that is just myself, you won't come across many people who prefer less on a pizza, and it certainly won't stop me from ordering again (as I have continued to do so for the past 5 years). Thank you for keeping up the service you have during this trying time and I'm sure we'll be...
