Tafarn Y Glôb — Restaurant in Wales

Tafarn Y Glob has to be one of the best hidden little gems of Bangor. From the moment you walk in, it's unique and friendly character embraces and welcomes you, with welsh memorabilia and photographs everywhere. The staff are lovely and friendly, happily engaging with locals and newcomers alike.

There's a good selection of drinks on offer, but hands down the best thing going are the Ales. I believe they are in the good beer guide, and one of the locals is a member of a CAMRA as well, which is always a good sign. They have 3 or 4 pumps (I can't remember exactly) and always have at least one beer on rotation, and you can tell by taste, that they look after and care about their casks.

There's always a happy background buzz at Y Glob, but the best night by far is on a Tuesday when a local group of musicians come in and informally play great folk music all evening, generally until close as well!

Absolutely stupendous pub. Coming here felt like stepping into a fantasy tavern. It's a proper welsh bar with signature drinks and good stuff on tap, the staff are incredibly tolerant and friendly in spite of rambunctious activity, they're all very reasonable and amicable, yet direct when they need to be. When it was time to leave, they very kindly directed us out but encouraged us to return. On Tuesdays, they have these 'folk nights' in which they play vintage musical instruments purely for our pleasure, it's a fantastic vibe and they have very reasonable prices for all drinks. The Globe (neu 'Y Glôb i fi) has been my local for the past 10 years, despite me having moved away from Bangor a couple of years ago. I still visit Bangor a lot and always go to the Globe.
