Poon's Street Food — Restaurant in Wales

Poon's Street Food, Laugharne We visited here twice on 18 and 19 June, 2025. The first time we were trying to get take away fish and chips but the chippie we’d used in previous years was closed. We called into Poon Street Food on the off chance and had a delightfully positive reception, though they couldn’t offer F&C that night. We opted instead for beef burgers and chips and were also offered a salad. The burgers were some of the best we’d ever had, really excellent. And the salad was a lovely creation with lots of different salad items included. The whole experience of being helped by Poon changed a disappointing start to the evening into a lovely time. We enjoyed our takeaway meals sitting at a table beneath the castle looking out over the estuary, warmed by the evening sun. And afterwards we went back to Poon’s for some excellent coffee. But after talking with the staff they offered to make take away F&C for us the following evening and so it was arranged for them to specially buy in the fish to cook for us. The next afternoon, therefore, at the time we wanted, they provided us with a really good meal, and another lovely salad, all packed into takeaway containers for us. Our whole experience of Poon’s Street Food was wonderful. Really good food and very thoughtful, friendly, and attentive staff. Nothing but praise for this place! We had a warm welcome from the gentleman behind the counter and our drinks order was taken very quickly. Our waitress was very polite and fast in bringing our drinks. Again food orders were taken with no excessive waiting time. We ordered a starter of chicken skewers which were a good price and were delicious, cooked to perfection with a lovely sauce. I ordered the chicken pad thai which was incredible and was a perfect portion. Our table also ordered the pork mince stir fry with rice which was outstanding and the steak, chips and peas, in which the portion was huge and the steak was cooked exactly to request. My wife and I visited the Poone Cafe/restauarant fist in Oct 24 and had a superb light lunch we promised to return when they re-opened in spring 25. We did exactly that last night Had a very warm welcome from Vince and Megan ordered Thai started spring Rolls and chicken Skewers mains were Jasmine rice chicken/ black beans with veg and Chicken noodles. Incredible food good portions extremely tasty and superb value for money. Great atmosphere as we made great conversation from Mark and Natalie from Winchester.
