Smiths Arms — Restaurant in Wales

I understand we are in difficult circumstances but customer service says alot. Food was lovely but service was poor. Booked for a time to have food because they said they were busy, when arrived there 2-3 tables was occupied. Asked the bar lady for our table prior to ringing just to be pointed with a bit of attitude to our table at the back, bar lady wasnt really friendly at all. Sat at the table which was pretty dark set had a few light bulbs missing and slightly difficult to see even though there were empty tables around. Knew what we wanted to order but didn't know if someone came to the table or we had to order at the bar no help there at all. Seen another person go to the bar so followed in suit, put an order in for a party of four all meals, when asking for drink I asked for 2 cokes and 2 waters, when asked for 2 waters the sigh of the bar lady could be seen from everyone. Least to say she put us off this place wont be coming back to...

Booked table for 2 here for Sunday Carvery. Staff were absolutely awesome! So friendly. However........... Ordered a house red and lager. Red was bitter, tasted cheap, and like it had been opened for days. Lager was flat and tasted awful. We had the beef, which tasted like stewed beef as opposed to roasted. The veg was horrendous. Potatoes, carrots, and peas are all kept in a vat of warm(ish) water, which you have to scoop out and try and drain. Had to wait for about 10 minutes after getting our carvery for the mash to be brought to the table. Stuffing balls were tasteless. Best part was the gravy and Yorkshire pudding! So disappointing because we had heard rave reviews about the carvery here. "Just like your grandmother used to make," it is not!! £9.95 each. Guess you get what you pay for. In future, I'd rather pay the extra and go somewhere like The Buck in Pontlliw or The Bird in...

Best dinner out I have ever had! It was like sitting around my mothers/nan's dinner table. Steal price @£6-49, I can honestly say if you go here you WONT be disappointed. The gravy is lush!! I could drink it. We are going back every Sunday from now on because at this price and taste I don't see any point in staying home and having the stress on a Sunday cooking a dinner!! And they do Lamb at no extra cost!! A pint of coke was only £1.50 and its real coke not that cheap stuff!! I could also see on other tables that they do home-made chips, MMMM I might have some with my dinner Sunday!! HAPPY...
