I don’t usually write reviews but we had an unfortunate lunch here today. The coffee was in my opinion a little watery but perhaps that is personal taste. The issue here was that I am intolerant to gluten and I ordered a gluten free roll, which we were told was possible, but when it came it was quite large and not usually the sort of roll I am used to seeing as gluten free options tend to be smaller due to the lack of gluten! Further more the side salad came with pasta which I thought was a strange thing to add to a plate that has been requested as gluten free. Anyway, I thought I would try it as it was likely they had a brand I had not come accros or maybe made their own? I took a bite and I knew it wasn’t gluten free straight away as the roll tasted too good ! Ha ! I don’t usually like to make a fuss but we had to double check with the server and when we asked if it was gluten free he looked at it and said no. Sadly I had already taken a bite. He took it away and made me a version which was gluten free but there was not much of an apology and no offer for a refund or much aftercare really. Luckily I’m fine but just have an afternoon of bad tummy ache but what if this is someone which a nut allergy which is much more of an issue. I noticed an earlier review commenting about cheese being added to soup when a customer was allergic to diary so seems like this isn’t the first time. I would just remind the establishment to check allergies with customers when they are ordering and be...
Read moreFirst time visiting Cardigan today and we were looking for somewhere to get some food. There were 7 of us, 3 adults and 4 kids. Stiwdio 3 was the first place we came to which had a large enough clear table for 7 people. The menu seemed fairly average priced, happy to order at the till. When we ordered we were told there would be "a bit of a wait" for the food. The kids had drunk their carton of milkshake long before the 40 minutes later when the food started to arrive. Each time we asked we were told there would be "a wait", but no further estimate of time. Took 40 minutes to bring a pot of tea for two and a couple of diet cokes at the same time as the food. The family on the table next to us said they'd waited about 25 minutes for some coffees. Then there was the food. My friend is allergic to cheese and so ordered the tomato and basil soup with no cheese as we saw a bowl of soup leave the kitchen with cheese sprinkled on the top. Her soup arrived with cheese on top and had to be changed. The picture I've posted was of her soup. She doesn't like butter beans, and that was the ratio of soup to butter beans which were in her tomato and basil soup. The rest of the food was quite nice, hence the two stars and not 1 star, but the staff seemed rude and harassed, the management ineffective and customer service at the bottom of the pile. Which is a shame, as this could be a lovely cafe with the correct...
Read moreWe didn't remember our crochet hooks but we did have a great lunch here. Best coffee we'd had in Cardigan since we've been here on holiday. The venue is light and airy with lots of space between the tables to move around.
The portion sizes of the lunch bowls on offer were fantastic. The superfood salad my wife had looked really colourful and varied and my beef stroganoff had a lot of flavour with the beef so tender it flaked apart with my fork. The cakes and traybakes were also worth visiting for, with a great selection available.
The only thing that needed improvement was the big Kilner used for water. Kilner containers for water look impressive but seem to have a design flaw in the tap mechanism. The tap handle on this KIlner had broken and the remaining part of the tap was stiff to move. Advanced planning is required in regards to how you would turn it off in time before your water glass starts to overflow.
Despite the vice-like grip needed operating the tap on the water container, we would definitely go back there again for...
