A few months had passed, but an impression had been made and we were back. The log fire glowed, the staff smiled and The Cure proclaimed that On Friday I'm In Love....
Sunday Lunch just has to be beef, for me. And wow, the beef was stunningly succulent. Vegetables, all beautifully cooked overflowed, with the offer of more if required. All drenched in lashings of gravy.
A lovely spot, great food and friendly staff. As I left, The Cure reminded me that Sunday was a great day to be in love too.

North Wales had been a blast, as had the journey back. The rain lashed and the wind howled, making the debris strewn roads far more exciting than needbe.
Cardigan appeared. An oasis of calm, that we knew well.
It was Sunday and our stomachs were reminding us of this fact with increasing ferocity. The Grosvenor reached out a hand of friendship and we were happy to accept.
The beef roast dinners were delicious. The beef succulent and the veg cooked to a tee. Service was prompt and very friendly. Certainly a place we'll visit again.
Leaving, Steve Harley spoke to me with a very apt tune...

Read moreCalled the restaurant to ask if they did carvery, which they said they did, so booked a table which I was told was the last spot they had. Arrived and the restaurant was basically empty and I can see why. There was no carvery only a set dinner, which came with peas, carrots roast potatoes and mash. If you had the beef option you were allowed a Yorkshire pudding, if you had chicken you were given a single stuffing ball. I asked the waitress if I could both or switch to which she snarked and said it was not possible in a very sarcastic tone and that they had only cooked enough Yorkshire puddings to cover beef dinners. If I was not very hungry I would have left then. The food arrived and it was tiny. Hardly anything on a huge plate. The food itself was tasteless. The chicken was dry, and the gravy was like brown water. The peas were clearly from a microwaveable bag. Overall terrible experience and I will not be returning. I'm shocked at all the positive reviews this restaurant has as it was nothing like other...
Read moreFood looked good but didnât get to order or eat it as server moved a family to our table as âthe sun was getting in the childrenâs eyesâ and their table was on a slope. So we had to sit with the sun in our eyes and enjoy our drinks... on the table on the slope... go figure. The drinks were good and reasonably priced. Bar staff were friendly but inept at controlling the large, screaming and crowing crowd of hot-panted lily-white skinned locals who when not mincing round the bar at the top of their voices were ordering vodka shots by the bucketload. Hey, we were all young once đ¤ They had a sensible approach to Coronavirus mitigation but the one-way system didnât seem to apply to the rowdy locals. Would have loved to have tried the food, it looked great, but I think I, and possibly 75% of the other clientele are either too old, (or too young)...
