We ordered a kids Mac & cheese, Thai green curry & Fish pie. Food was hot and tasted great. But upon my 19 months old having eaten, like 5 pasta, a fly landed in the gooey cheese and got stuck. Horrified, we used a napkin to contain the fly. I took it to the waitress and asked if we could get a replacement since thereās a fly in it, only to be responded with the most unenthusiastic tone; āwe canāt control the fliesā. I was taken aback, unsure what to say and obviously with returned to a very unimpressed wife when I told her. We looked to see what else we could order for her, but the wife then questioned the hygiene of the restaurant due to the amount of flies in the restaurant, therefore, she didnāt want to order again for the little one. So, if you donāt mind eating with one hand, and using the other to squat flies away during your meal. Then make sure, you come visit The Angel.
Note - upon paying, the lady said she took off the cost of the kids meal, the wife just paid it without looking at the bill. But calculating it, I think they did take it off but added the service on top anyway. I have no problem paying for service, if it was decent. But itās obvious the team of young staff didnāt want to be working there. Oh well, we wonāt be returning. But Iām sure the locals will continue to enjoy...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe unexpectedly popped in here yesterday (Saturday 2nd August) looking for food and drink after exploring Tenby and on our way back to Maenclochog. We expected to be turned away since it was a Saturday evening, but the staff pulled tables together for our group of 6 and couldnāt have been more accommodating!
Since weād never visited before, we didnāt realise the accessible entrance was round the back so we had to go back round again - note to other wheelchair users! Accessible entrance is from the public car park behind, to the left of the public toilets - follow the path round through another small car park and the pub is on the left (tarmac is a little bumpy but nothing prohibitive).
Our food was delicious, and service was fast. We were looked after by wonderful friendly staff, who made our evening extra special - it was a 60th birthday for one member of our group and our server bought a birthday banner for the table and at the end bought the chocolate mints with a candle in! It was so lovely and above and beyond, especially for a group that hadnāt booked and no pre-warning! Great range of drinks including guest ales.
Fantastic pub and one we will certainly visit again when back in the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe are local to Narberth. We decided last minute to go for a meal at The Angel as we didn't feel like cooking. We hadn't booked a table but were accommodated anyway. We had been told by many that the food there is delicious. To start we had an antipasto share starter of meats, cheese and olives, absolutely beautiful. Our main meal, my husband had a 10oz Gamon Steak with a perfectly fried egg, pineapple jus, peas and chunky chips which he said was delicious. I had a burger which had bacon, crunchy lettuce, tomato, onion and their own cheesey dressing with Sweet Potato Fries, the beef burger was all meat made out of minced steak, was 8oz, thick and beautifully juicy, a really yummy burger. We had a side of home made beer battered onion rings which were huge, we shared those. We couldn't manage desert as we were so full. Recommend The Angel for eating out very much. You will not be disappointed! They don't have a huge menu as they change it quite often along with the seasonal availability of ingredients, vegetables etc as it is all locally...
