Ultracomida — Restaurant in Wales

What on earth has happened to one of my favourite places to eat? No acknowledgment from staff upon entering the shop, then the young man behind the counter greeted us with a poker-face. We ordered drinks, 4 small plates and some bread. My baby squid was over cooked and hadn’t had the quills removed, which made for unpleasant eating. The anchovies brought to the table were not the ones we’d ordered. We waited for the correct anchovies to arrive. Then we waited for the bread. The bread finally arrived with an “I forgot” but no apology. Then we waited for the olives. We had to ask twice. Then we waited for the peppers. And waited. And waited. The waiter cleared the table around us whilst studiously ignoring us. No customer interaction, no interest at all. We still waited for the peppers. I put my hand up and said “excuse me,” but was ignored. We watched as customers who had come in after us were served promptly. I tried to catch the eye of the waitress , but she wasn’t having any of it. We finally managed to ask someone where the peppers were. We were told “they’re not on the ticket, do you still want them?” We said yes please. Again, no apology from the staff. No suggestion of how much longer we’d have to wait. And wait we did. Again! I asked again, “where are the peppers?” “They’re coming” was all I was told, unhelpfully. They finally arrived. With a “sorry about that”. Well, I’m sorry, too. I won’t be coming...

I recently visited Ultracomida and I have to say that I was thoroughly impressed by the experience. The service was quick and friendly, and the staff were extremely helpful in recommending different wines to pair with the food I ordered. I appreciated the extra attention and care that went into the service, which really added to the overall dining experience.

The menu at Ultracomida is also outstanding, with a wide range of meals to choose from. Everything on the menu is clearly made with high-quality ingredients, and the dishes are beautifully presented. I especially enjoyed the meat and cheese platter, which was full of flavor and packed with variety.

I also liked the seating area, which forces you to sit with other people and spark conversations. It's a great way to meet new people and make new friends. The atmosphere is lively and inviting and it's clear that the owners have put a lot of thought and care into creating a space that is both welcoming and enjoyable.

Visited yesterday as a birthday treat for my mum. Extremely disappointed with the size and amount of food in the grazing board and other items ordered. Having looked at photos and reviews before going we were really shocked at the portion sizes. There were only two croquettes and no dipping sauce for £5?? Bread costs £4 per small tin and we had to keep ordering to fill us up. The biggest disappointment was the grazing board with the tiniest pieces of cheese I’ve ever been served - it looked nothing like the photos online. My son had the best value meal with a sandwich. The food was delicious but just not enough by any stretch for the price. Be careful...
