Shocking poor service poor food, called in to the Deri today with my husbund for the 1st time and it will be our last. Ordered our food at the bar along with 2 pints ordered fish and chips a jacket with cheese beans extra beans and a bowl if chips. Our food arrived around 10 minutes after sitting down, I was a bit shocked at the lack of chips on my husbunds plate and the fish looked very greasy. Then the waitress / manager put my jacket on the table to my suprise it was covered in coleslaw not cheese and beans as ordered. I asked waitress what this was as not ordered she said it must have been a mistake and stated she would get it reordered. Waitress went off with the jacket leaving a cold side of beans and chips on the table, I waited about 5 mins no sign of her so had to take the beans and chips to the kitchen and advise her they should not have been left and they were also cold. No apologies just a fresh jacket is being made. I return back to our table not very happy, the more I looked at my husbunds meal and the lack of food on his plate the more annoyed I became . Still waiting a further 10 mins no food and my husbund had eaten his small plate of fish and chips. I then got up and asked where my food was and told the woman that served us I was not happy at all and how bad the fish and chips were. With no sorry I was told I think your food is ready and off she went. Then out came my jacket with just cheese no beans just an extra potion I had paid for in a bowl, the jacket was tiny and there was about 10 chips in a bowl not worth over £7.00 I had paid for it . I told the woman I wanted a refund for my food and both pints as I had taken a mouthful of mine . I advised I would pay for the poor meal my husbund had eaten as only fair but wasnt paying for the pints, she went to the till gave me back just over £7 that I had paid for my meal I told her I wanted the drinks refunded she then got her boss. I advised him of the poor service and food and expected a refund for the drinks he took me away from the bar and sat at our table again I explained of the poor service. He stated he didnt get complaints I laughed and asked him if he had seen the reviews ( I had been checking whilst waiting on my food) he said yes but did I see the last few that were good( dont make me laugh take a look at Trip advisors reviews ).Anyway he agreed to a full refund and said he would look in to the matter, well good for him I will never eat there again as over priced for the food and service that you get. Went away...

Having eaten at The Deri many times and never being disappointed, my friend and I decided to go there for lunch on Saturday.

We arrived and we’re pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t really busy. We arrived just after 1 o’clock found a table and ordered our food and drinks, including our desserts as we were on a bit of a time schedule.

After a while our main courses arrived and my meal came with potatoes rather than chips. I mentioned this and I was given a small bowl of chips. We finished our meal and waited and waited for our desserts! After about 30 minutes I went to the bar and asked when our desserts would be served and was told it would be soon. Our table still hadn’t been cleared and I noticed that staff were standing talking to each other. After another 10 minutes I cleared our table and left our plates on the bar. I sat back down and waited another 10 minutes before approaching the bar and the same member of staff and asked again about our desserts. He told me that desserts are requested after the tables had been cleared. I pointed out that our table hadn’t been cleared and that I had actually left our plates on the bar!

My friend had a phone call from her 13 year old grandson asking to be picked up. By this time it was 2.45 and still our desserts hadn’t found their way to our table! She had to leave. I stayed and eventually our desserts arrived at our table at 2.57! She came back with her grandson a few minutes after that! The desserts, Eton Mess, we’re alright but no where near as good as they have been before.

We were not offered an apology or any reason as to why the service was diabolical!

We will be looking for another place for Saturday lunch...

I've given it 3 as it wasn't a good experience, but the food was ok, saved by dessert. A group of 4 of us went for lunch, sat at same table, ordered 2 x 2 course main meals and then 2 starters to be served as main meals. Served immediately after each other, I paid for two meals, friend paid for two meals, clearly saying the starters were their main courses, but we didn't actually say we wanted to eat together - seemed obvious - big mistake. The server was a bit offhand, not helpful re gluten query, just pushed the big allergy book to my friend. Anyway, starters were served and we waited. I asked the server about delay, she said starter chef and mains chef, different queues.. We waited, they finished their starters, we waited. I asked to speak to the manager and it was the lady who served me . I again said that we were still waiting and she simply repeated that there are different chefs and queues and that's the process as meals weren't ordered together. I p/o that I ordered first, they ordered immediately after and it was obvious we were all lunching together, or hoping to. I said that it should be obvious and their process needs to be amended. At no point did she offer any kind of apology, didn't even say sorry. If that is the process, the starter orders should have been held back, so all meals were served together. I still can't believe it! When my meal came, the fried eggs were over-cooked but I didn't bother sending back. The Deri was busy, but the starters could have been served with the mains, all 4 of us agreed. The treacle sponge was lovely. VERY disappointed with the whole experience, especially...

Where shall I start . Went here to order scampi as a main and red wine lasagne as a main . First of all they just had some paper menu with hardly anything on it . So I went for the ciabatta with cheese and chutney with chips and my wife had the ham n eggs with chips . I went to the counter ordered a Pepsi. Was served a Pepsi max that's not what I ordered. The chips with both meals were hard in places and the ciabatta was horrific the bread itself was hard where it had been kept in a fridge and the amount of grated cheese in there was pitiful. My wife's ham was fatty and tasted stale . Someone came and asked if we were happy we told him the food is just OK 5 out 10 . I also showed him a voucher where I was supposed to have £5 off when spending 20.00. I was told the manageress was on break and no 1 could apply it other than her. Then the original girl with glasses came to table about 10 mins later coughing everywhere and I said I wanted to order dessert and I have a voucher. She also said what the guy had said that manageress was on break and only she could apply it . Waited another 10 mins . Nobody seemed to give a s**te . So we walked out . Won't return what a shambles they are running . If I hadn't of paid beforehand I wouldn't have paid them . Also as I'm leaving really cheesed off . You see staff members in the car park smoking nice look . 👌. And also don't bother responding saying you will look to improve like you have with other reviews. As it's obviously a load of rubbish and a cop out . I wish I could have my money back .

The Deri is a place I regularly visit. It's usually fairly busy but you can always get a seat. It's lovely in the winter when the log fires are on. They welcome dogs(although only allowed in one section of the pub). Free dog biscuits and water are also provided. They serve a really good pint and have a good selection of craft beers. The only negatives are, if you arrive late in the evening the staff make it clear they want you out the door well in advance of closing time (12am). One particular female member of staff seems to feel the need to walk around the tables at 11:45, yelling at customers to hurry up with their drinks. They also set the place up for breakfast while the pub is still open, which involves moving around tables and chairs right next to you, ruining the experience for customers.

The Deri Inn team couldn’t do enough to ensure my family wedding anniversary party in the Sam Warburton suite (upstairs) ran smoothly. With a dedicated contact (Rachel) in the run up to the event, flexibility on numbers and polite, respectful genuinely lovely staff throughout. The buffet was excellent with something for everyone, and many of our party’s dietary requirements considered and catered for. On the day we had Ainslee upstairs the whole time and she was amazing. When you have a special event like this and have family travelling far and wide from across the country, it’s so reassuring to have everything run smoothly! Thank you so much to the whole Deri team for making this day so special for us all.
