Our server was brilliant; the rest of the staff looked and acted like they didn't want to be there. The supervisor/manager was of zero help with a complaint. They don't like to give out receipts, which is a bit odd.
Edit: Looks like the owner has replied with a (non) apology. Its worth pointing out the wording of the absolutely tiny font size text in the menu did not make this clear and seeing as all the major chain restaurants include J2O in their offers it is reasonable to expect this to be the same (or it to be in the upgraded drinks).
Visited twice: went on Sunday for the roast and then gave it another try on the Wednesday. The roast was a huge disappointment, very much like a supermarket microwave meal in quality. More gristle than beef and the driest turkey I have ever experienced. Cold green beans and a tiny jug of gravy didn't help. They forgot the kids' jacket potato, brought out an adult's jacket meal 5 minutes later, took that back, and then said it would be another 20 minutes for the kids' jacket, so we left it.
Went back on Wednesday hoping the main menu would be better. Was impressed they could seat 9 without a booking, but after that, it was really poor service. Had to order at the bar to use the kids eat for £1 offer, as it wasn't on the app. One person on tills despite queues and staff mulling around looking disinterested. The person on the till was of zero help and either didn't understand the offers or didn't care. We should have had an offer with a meal and a drink but managed to choose a drink which wasn't apparently included (no indication of this), and as a result, we paid the equivalent of £6.35 for a J2O, which we were expecting to be free.
Queried this with a supervisor who sighed because he had to print out an actual receipt to check, as I had only been given a card receipt when I asked. The supervisor said the tills do the best price and offered no other solution (had he offered to add a drink included with the offer, the price would have gone down £3, and we would have been happy).
The food was much better, except the kids' burger looked and tasted like a Rustlers-style micro burger, so we had to make more food when we got home. We asked as soon as we had finished for the 2 kids' desserts (jelly and ice cream), waited 28 minutes, and had to ask 3 times in total (when we could find staff to ask). This was also how long it took them to take the plates away and was the reason we didn't all order the desserts.
It wasn't overly busy; the guy bringing food out was really polite, apologized loads despite doing a great job, and looked to be working his socks off, possibly as his coworkers were not. I have never seen so many shrugs and sullen faces from staff in the...
Read moreSHOCKING SHOCKING SHOCKINGHAIR IN TWO DIFFERENT MEALS ONE IN HUNTERS CHICKEN, ONE IN OTHER MEAL CHIPS.omg i ordered 4adult meals. Paid over 40pound. Asked for sauces on hunters chicken to be in pot.son whos 5 moved cheese from top of hunters chicken to find theres a hair on top of chicken. Lady came over i said thats defenitly a hair. She said i agree defenitly a hair. Said they would replace it but son got learning needs and meltdown and rages were hard at table while we still got to try an pacify him and eat ourselves. After 10-12 mins i told man he can't wait he waiting for chicken he trying to keep his chips. Though they getting cold. So then he brought out a hunters chicken. Few mins into that my 4year old said urgh i got a hair in my chips. I told her to eat her dinner. To find she did have hair in her chips. I took it to till. Woman said oh sh... an threw it away an chips got replaced. Whole experience was awful. They came over and put 5.99 ( in a load of change) for meal an said sorry.but i did ask question don't they wear hats. Lady shook head and said no. Man said they do. Either way. I did speak to green king fri. As they wern't there thursday as there's something no right to have hair in two meals. I was told as i had complained a year ago they would need to go away an look inyo it. I told them they have cameras do all checks. What they are refering too is a year ago i was paying for my meals with a big queue behind me an lady serving went off and took a phone call and didn't come bk for 40mins. Can u imangine queue everyone was fuming and then little girl ran into wall and gave herself a nose bleed then the experience got a whole lot worse again with something extra in food. So if you think 5.99 cuts it when you pay over 40pound for your meal and all of it ruined please leave your comments. Rhyl harbour rang said they would have to get management to check they could refund other HAIR FUELED meal. Are they having a laugh. Management that needed to get ok for a fiver refund??? Read moreI have been to lots of hungry horse establishments all over the country so presumed the harbour would live up to expectations. Having booked our table for 8 today 31st August for Sunday dinner l have to say it's the worst meal l and my family have ever had. Shown to table fit 7 tightly round good job 2 had dropped out of group. Ordered food brought drink order OK waited for food 6 roast dinners plus l fish and chips. Food came looked presentable although very small portions meat cut on a slicer as thin as possible cold veges cold carrots and cauliflower actually raw the 6 slices of carrot of 1 l ate which crunched. It was smash potatoes 1 tablespoon table spoon cold peas same with green beans. 4 small pieces of burnt squishy roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding like leather. 2 x medium gravy boats of gravy between 6 roast dinners asked for more prepared to pay never got any. 1 dinner taken back as too cold to eat brought back new meal no better and a tiny amount of gravy. The fish was inedible don't no what type of fish but cheap. Had to ask twice for bread and butter and forgotten pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese. After quite a wait we had to ask where the desserts were no apology eventually they arrived ice creams and sundaes OK the hot puddings again 2 cold 2 OK. I wondered why you had to pay for your meal before it was served to you now we know why because it was horrible feel we have been robbed. There is no way this should be a hungry horse establishment it is depremental to the company name Hungry...
