We chose to sit outside just to the right of the restaurant under the shelter. We ordered food via the bar and drinks via the app. Whilst waiting I asked a member of staff to clean up the table as was full of dirty glasses and plates, she said I cant but I can give you a cloth. She sprayed the cloth a few times and handed it to me so I cleaned and cleared the table myself. Whilst waiting for the food which took 40 minutes to arrive which is expected during a busy day, my daughter who's 8 who is on the spectrum thought she was helping by going inside and getting us cutlery and sauces etc which wer on tables inside. Unknown to myself , I was unaware that she had taken from a unsat table just she had collected what we needed and was thanked by me for being helpful. Within 5 minutes a staff member (blonde hair in a pony tail) came to the table, took the things back and proceed to say to my daughter 'you little theif' I was quite shocked by this and it took a few minutes to process what she had actually said to my daughter. This member of staff clocked off I think about 3pm as she walked past us on her way out. I was absaloutely disgusted so when the food arrived I told the member of staff who brought the food to us. He apologised on her behalf but its not the point. A member of your staff shouldn't be saying anything like that to children and think it is acceptable. My daughter is on the spectrum so she didnt understand, she just thought she helped us set the table up before food. Absaloute disgrace and I hope she never speaks to any children like that again. We did have a problem with the food where I ordered my daughter a burger from the kids menu, I specifically asked for it plain but with cheese. Unbeknown to me I wasn't charged for the cheese, anyway the food came out , burger bun rock hard , no cheese...I mentioned it to the waiter who checked with the chef who said im sorry u didnt pay for cheese at the bar , it will 79p to put cheese one her burger. He took the £1 ,took my daughters plate as we asked for a fresh bun so it was edible and we was presented with a piece of cheese slice on a plate. It was shocking service, it was uncomfortable and we wont be...
Read moreWe booked a table however when we arrived there was a sign that stated you could find your own table and order at the bar, I questioned with one of the staff and he confirmed we should sit anywhere even though there were reserved tables. There were no cleared tables so we just sat and pushed the dirty crockery to the side. I placed an order for 3 drinks, 2 carveries and a meal from the menu, the drinks came quickly along with the receipt that we could take up for carvery which we did. We waited over 5 minutes for someone to attend the carvery, you could see from the veg that it had been sitting under the hot lamps for a while but we gave it all a stir. Whilst we were waiting for someone to attend to us a member of the team walked passed us 4 times, no apology for our wait and it was only when I asked for us to be seen to did he actually ask for someone. The carveries were eaten and I went to the bar to order dessert, I also questioned how long the meal from the menu was going to take because it had been well over half an hour at this point. The lady behind the bar asked if the other meals had been carvery to which I confirmed and she just nodded in agreement, like it was expected. My meal finally around 55 minutes after I had ordered, I didn't have time for a dessert as everyone else in the party had finished.
I understand that it is busy in the Summer months, I live in the area and the Sun Verge is evidently understaffed but my 'complaint' is mainly around the service. I didn't receive an apology for my food taking so long, the team member that walked passed us 4 times whilst waiting for carvery could have asked someone to attend to us the first time he spotted us. We have been a few times and even though it does always seem to be understaffed the service has always been great however I feel like this visit has put me off coming again. The whole place was untidy and even the outside was full of empty glasses, even on the play park.
It definitely needs more staff, maybe if the team that were there already weren't so exhausted they would be able to give a...
Read moreI went to the Sun Verge as it was my favourite place to eat when I lived in Rhyl a few years ago. Sadly, I wish I hadn't, the staff were lovely, polite, helpful, and cheerful, the manager, however was vile. He was rude, obnoxious, and very unhelpful. I ordered meat free sausages with my carvery but was told I would have to wait a few minutes, no problem, I went to collect my vegetables etc from the carvery counter and sat at my table which the young guy who served me entered into the till. I finished my complete meal but still no meat free sausages had arrived, still not really a problem, but as I had paid for them I still wanted them. I went to the bar and the young girl and young man were really helpful and couldn't apologise enough, however they said they needed to speak to the manager. So I went with them to speak to the 'manager', he said to me, "where have you been? We have been looking all over for you to tell you we don't have meat free sausages", I said I have been sitting at the table, the number of which was entered into the till. He disputed this fact, but I had, obviously, not moved as I had been eating the rest of my carvery. He repeated this statement more than once, but when I tried to tell him I hadn't moved as I was eating he rolled his eyes and said whatever you can have a spinach tart instead. I said okay, then he said it will take around 5 - 7 minutes, I said no problem I will just go to check on my dogs and I will come back In 5 minutes. When I got outside I was really upset because I was spending Christmas alone for the 1st time and was really looking forward to being around other people enjoying Christmas. I couldn't bring myself to go back in to face this rude man again so I went home. I am so throughly disappointed about my experience and very sad, especially as it was the Christmas season, but my day was ruined by this...
